Default Cast Aluminum AC Pedals

I find the rubber grommets supplied with my AC pedals simply won't fit. The pedal has a scant 1/2" hole and the pedal thickness is 5/16. The overall width of the grommet should be 5/8".

I ask because as I wander through the WWW looking for these, I'm finding that, if I do, Ill be buying many more than I need. It is possible that someone here has gone through this before and has an unneeded supply stashed somewhere. I need just four but wouldn't be surprised if I bit*hed one or more up so lets say that I'm looking for six or eight. Does anyone have these? Thanks ... Alan in the too-fast 2948.

If you have an Ace Hardware near you, they have a pretty good selection of grommets. You can buy any number that you want too.

I think I took an endmill in my drill press and opened the hole up slightly. I had the same problem.

Oil the grommet & you can force it into the opening

To remove this question, I have forced the stock grommet into place. Installed, it is badly puckered where it straddles the north-south pedal grooves while the tallest part of the installed grommet is the sharp corner of the grommet (the sides and top of the grommet meet at fully 90 degrees). It is almost as thought the stock pieces are cut from tubing rather than the molded style that would clearly fit better.

Went through their entire inventory and nothing. Of all the dimensions that I need, the most difficult to find is what the industry calls 'panel thickness' - essentially a grommet's groove that allows it to fit the 5/16" thickness of my pedal.

I changed out the pedals on csx8967 with a set that I bought from David Wagner. These were machined and designed to pivot like the originals. These pedals have rubber grommets that were made to fit the pedals. He might be able to help you.

Mine wouldn't fit either. I just tossed 'em and have gone without, 8+ years now.

Giving this option some serious thought. I did find something that may be close from Zoro. Of course, you just can't buy four so if they work, I'll send you what you need.

After lubing grab the grommet & give it a turn it will come back in shape & fit the opening just fine

I have used a counterbore tool on the front and back of the pedal pads. It makes the pedal the right thickness for the grommet and it gives the grommet a recess to sit inside making it actually last and work for a while. It also makes the grommets easier to install. I have a big bag of the grommets.

Its much easier to change the pedal than chase down an odd size grommet.

Not there yet but I ordered grommets from Zoro.com. Pretty close. I got a grommet with a 3/8" groove while the pedal is 5/16". The company has grommets with 1/8" grooves and the the one oddball that I bought with that 3/8" groove. Although these could be Mickey Moused to work, I'd sure like the same model with a 5/16" groove. Interestingly (for me), I was able to fit this new grommet into the pedal with fingers only and no water or lubricant of any sort - shows how impossibly wrong the grommets supplied with the pedals were.

My pedals are 1/4" thick, and the existing hole dia. is 1/2". These grommets are a close fit.

Thank you for the info.
