I think "24" is a clue.

Maybe the selling price has something to do with Keifer Sutherland, or, maybe Thor has dyslexia and he meant "42," which we all know is the answer to the ultimate question of life, the Universe and everything.

2 and 4 are the first two points on an exponential curve, which is the most accurate depiction of the true cost of these cars.

So drop the other shoe. Whats the answer?**)

RodKnock 01-14-2015 03:04 PM

Even if Thor gave us an answer as to how much his Chevy Cobra sold for, there's absolutely no way to prove his theory, since there isn't another car like his except with a BBF installed.

The original post/theory was an argumentative exercise that has now lasted 9 pages and counting. But we had fun.

Well my long Cobra road has come to an end. I stated on my first post that I had sold my Chevy Powered Contemporary Classic Cobra replica or as I liked to say my HotRod that is shaped like a Cobra. On April 11 2015 the new owner took delivery. It was a hard road with some hiccups along the way, and a very big one at the end that almost came to a fist fight. But we were able to work it out. The new owner is a good guy, a car guy, a HotRod guy and I know he will love having a Cobra replica. He loves the Chevy power and will keep it that way. I hope he joins us here on Club Cobra and shares his story. I am going to dive back into Cobra world, I am going to look for an Arntz/Butler Switch the front end out, build an all aluminum small block Chevy stroked to around 427 cubes tide to a 6 speed. Let the fun begin.

Just sold the SBC in my Arntz. Waiting for the LS engine to arrive.

Then I suppose resale value isn't important to ya.

(I'm just kidding around, not trying to create another 15 pages of nonsense).

If he does become a new member one would hope he'll elaborate a bit more on the road bumps and near fist fight. A little more drama for the group is always good...

It's probably not that exciting. The buyer probably figured out at the last minute that Thor's Cobra had a Chevy in it. Thor likely smoothed the situation over with the "Chevy's have more power and better resale value than an FE Cobra" approach and the buyer bought it "hook, line and sinker." :p:LOL:

See... the drama has already started. Good job RK for kicking this thing off!

I have an LS6 in my Cobra tribute and love it. I don't have anything against Fords. My favorite car that I owned was a 1970 Boss 302. But, I've used Corvette parts to build a number of cars. That's what I was use t. so when I built my Cobra I went with all C5 Corvette drivetrain and suspension.

Good luck with your engine change.

mdross1 04-14-2015 05:44 AM

When getting geared up to build my car was going to use a 454 Chevy till a Ford guru convinced me the car would sell better with a Ford engine. Same guy convinced me to go with the 460. I have never built anything with resale in mind that by itself adds limitations.
Any well built project will sell despite all you hear from the naysayers.

True. There is an a$$ for every seat but if you want to do a Cobra replica correctly and stay true to what you are replicating there is no other way except 260, 289, 427 or 428 FE. Period.

Next.

You forgot 390, Flip Top, and the prototypes first done in England in something like 221 cubic inch engines? You know just to stay true.

Karl Bebout 04-14-2015 09:53 AM

I wondered why "real1" didn't mention that venerable 390 boat anchor and the sewing machine 221. Never heard of a mighty 406 going into an original by Shelby.
