Assuming this article were true, these competition/completion Cobras still cannot be sold in CA as completed cars, unless they've learned from prior mistakes and will create some shill/shell companies.
A "home-made, specially constructed, or kit vehicle" is a vehicle that is built for private use, not for resale, and is not constructed by a licensed manufacturer or remanufacturer. These vehicles may be built from a kit, new or used parts, a combination of new and used parts, or a vehicle reported for dismantling (junked) that, when reconstructed, does not resemble the original make of the vehicle that was dismantled.
And I'm sure they'll hire some minimum wage worker to stand in line on January 4, 2016 to get as many Certificate of Sequences as they need for CA buyers?

The press release specifically says they are not street legal cars being sold as race cars only.

Ya, ya. Blah, blah, blah. I saw that. You can believe whatever you read. But I don't believe it. The press release states as such, but I call BS.
I'll bet not one car will be raced. And then, the owners will not be able to register them to drive on the street? After spending how much?
Puh-leeze. I don't believe it.

They'll hit the streets of CA, no problem.

Of course we all want to believe it, but let's all see who confirms this story. Consider the source. Where are pics and details of such an "important" car?
What was it that PT Barnum said?

Just out of curiosity, do any of the non '60s Cobras ever sell for more than their purchase price after the first owner is done with them? Is there truly a monetary investment value to these special editions? I'm talking real sales here, not "appraised value."

Yes, several of them do.
Shelby, Kirkham, ERA, Contemporary to name a few seem to do quite well. I'm sure someone will let me know which ones I forgot to list!

I'd like to see one of the MSOs just to see how they are worded. Most purpose built race cars are sold on bill of sale (i.e., the Ford FR500s and CobraJets). I do believe the paperwork will disallow street registration but with an MSO someone will figure out how to launder it through some of the states that say aren't as diligent and they will show up with titles and plates...
