Default Revology Prepares To Produce Shelby Mustang Replicas

I ran across this today:

Orlando, FL – On the heels of launching the world’s first replica Mustang, Revology Cars, the Florida-based specialty automobile manufacturer, will soon be producing licensed replicas of the rare and highly desirable Shelby Mustangs.

Long revered by collectors, the Shelby Mustangs represented the pinnacle of Mustang performance in the 1960s. With the Shelby Mustang replica, Revology will follow its proven formula. “We carefully integrate modern technology to improve performance, reliability, durability, fuel economy, safety, and comfort,” says Tom Scarpello, president and founder of Revology Cars, “while retaining the essential character and style of the original design.”

The original Shelby Mustangs were essentially race cars for the street. With unassisted steering and brakes, and lacking creature comforts such as air conditioning or power windows, those cars were exceptionally performance-focused. By contrast, the Revology Shelby Mustang will leverage modern technology in order to deliver all of the welcome features of modern cars, with even better acceleration, braking, handling, safety, fuel economy, and lower emissions than the original.

So, they come right out and call it a replica, yet clearly the plan is to make them 'fully modern' - so clearly not an exact replica! No mention of them being 'continuation' or 'genuine' cars...

I saw this yesterday. They use the re-body kits from Dynacorn but don't say where they get the frame from (and that determines the VIN) The best description of the finished product is a restomod. Note that the basic product uses a LS3 as the base engine with the Coyote as a 4.5K upgrade.

They do look nice, and I think if someone were to do the same degree of recreation, they'd have this much money in it.

No "frame" on a unibody car.

And transferring a VIN to a Dynacorn body is not legal. A Dynacorn shell can only LEGALLY be registered just like a kit car, as a self build or a replica dependent upon your state regulations. Now we all know that some cars have been "rebodied" with a Dynacorn shell however selling "new" cars using the shell is way out of bounds on legality.

And what happened to the laws about building a complete new turnkey car with engine? Doesn't that kick in all the EPA and Highway Safety laws like air bags etc? Or, is this another one that you can't drive on the street?

That's a big yup too. CA requires the SPCNS/SB100 builds to show separate receipts for drivetrain, installation and roller purchase. No turnkeys. But where there's a will, there's a way. Hopefully, Revology is on the up and up. Otherwise, it's another Unique Performance waiting to happen.

Apparently, yes...If Shelby American in Las Vegas builds or 'finishes' it.

You know, just like the "Real" Cobras that come out of SA/LV.

If they come from anyone else like Kirkham, ERA, Superformance, etc. they are replicas. But if Shelby American finishes assembling them and puts their tag on them, they somehow become "Real"...as if they went back in time and produced them.

They have varying degrees of their cars. The entry Mustang starts with the LS3. The higher up cars shift to the Ford power trains but the base price goes up too.

Everyone in this place loves to just scream about how they can't possibly title or license or drive them, and you're guilty of Fraud and will rot in hell etc, but just like the new Shelby CSX3000 cars, noone has thought of calling them to find out the story. I will do so tomorrow.

Not at all - quite the contrary. More like having a laugh. And wondering why there isn't the usual true blue outrage and cries of "blasphemy!!" at the thought of a GM lump being installed in a Ford replica. I wish them well my only hope is they don't pull the same stunt as Unique Performance, "as in Eleanor" and leave all those people hanging. Actually the way they ran the business it is more like defrauding them.

Who would buy these or their outdated replica mustang with an eighties 5.0? You can buy an original mustang in great condition already upgraded for 30k. As far as a Shelby, this is beyond me. How many companies will Shelby inc. whore the name out to? These cars will have no market and no future value
On a side note, I've installed a coyote in a 67 mustang it's no small task. These guys have no idea what they are getting into offering a mod motor for only a 4500 upgrade.

It sounds like they're using a Mustang II type front suspension, so no towers to get in the way of the Coyote.

Back in about 81 or so Shelby himself was missing a GT 350 convertible so he hatched a scheme to make a few more using existing but non-rusted Mustangs as the base. That seems like the right way to go if one was going to go into the replica/kit/tribute/restomod/pick your name business. To me anyway.
