Didn't you like the bit about how it had an original Cobra engine?

Jim Cowles at period 13 Cobra built it - Shelby Parts and Restoration - If he say's that it is an original Cobra engine then it is - Jim is not one to mince words.......

Agreed. I know Jim.

Did not know that it was his build-out or I wouldn't have questioned it.

I think the better question is why would you install an original "Cobra engine" in a replica?

For the same reason that Bob Bondurant installed an original GT40 engine in his replica GT40?

Yes, to make a more "genuine" replica.

Don't care if it's Bob Bondurant or Carroll Shelby. Makes no difference to me.

Which car are you guys talking about with an original Cobra engine?

It's not difficult, I made my own dash and glovebox and door.

I have never gotten an answer as to why SAI can't replicate the glove box door correctly?

My guess on the glove box door is that they took the existing piece directly from the Supeformance 427. That way they didn't have to make new tooling for the door. Of course, thats only a guess but they do look a lot alike.

It sold for under $100k not counting buyers premium. So much for them being worth the $150-200k they charged for the 50 " special edition" slab sides about a year ago. Although the black with red interior is a nicer color combination. Cobra's have never done well at Barrett Jackson.

A white csx2000 series original automatic slab side went for as much money as the infamous dragon snake at right at a million. I was surprised with the racing history Dragonsnake had it didn't go higher. Overall, Bonhams,RM and Barrett Jackson were about soft at about 20% lower than than many of the estimates

Well, if it had an "original Cobra engine," now we're talking $150,000. The Ford Motorsport engine really killed the price. :p

Actually that blue is pretty darn nice.

marklotus 01-31-2016 08:26 PM

Barrett Jackson shows that it sold for $143,000 including buyers premium.

There are two 8000 Cobras being discussed.

Not this one:

Pat bought Bob's GT40 with the original GT40 engine already installed. :)

csx4910 01-31-2016 10:05 PM

$91000 was the Hammer price + the 10% premium for lot 1415, csx8000 series

CompClassics 01-31-2016 10:21 PM

i believe that the 8000 Series Continuation Cobras that were offered were fiberglass bodied?

marklotus 02-01-2016 04:04 AM

Sold at Barrett Jackson

CSX8039 silver w. Cobra engine $143,000
CSX8004 40th Anniversary $100,100

Both were fiberglass bodied.
