Cobra Picture
My co-driver ( Scott Fraser) just sent me this photo of me driving my car at this years solo II National Championships. It is my all time favorite photo because it shows the car at maximum cornering load, note all green indicator lights are on,
1/2 throttle (4 of 8 lights) and brakes applied. The photo as posted is a little blurry but you can see the right hand wheels are almost in the air. This truly shows how hard this car can be pushed on street tires. Look closely at the left rear tire and you can see the distortion at the rim. I hope the picture shows larger than a thumbnail (I have never mastered the art of posting pictures)

That is a great photo, what tires are you running? Air pressure?
Thanks

That is a great picture and really shows how well you have the car set up for that track. I will try to make it larger for you. Thanks for posting it.

Too cool. It reminds me of when I'd see fog coming from the wings of my jet telling me I was getting about all there was from it and the air.

Thank You Ron!
Thanks to everybody for your compliments, tires are 335x30x18 Rival S rears at 22 psi and fronts are 275x35x18 Bridgestone RE71-R at 28 psi. I am putting extended nose's on the front shocks to increase droop be 1" so the front and rear contact will be closer to equal after seeing this picture.

Love action shots. Especially vintage cars taking it to newer cars.

right side tires are off the ground, and are doing nothing except hanging there. Looks like you need more spring.

Bruce
Tires in the air have no traction........your tires appear to have good adhesion so getting them on the ground will mean faster times.....

Weight Transfer

Weight transfer is related to CG height and track width only more spring will not help other than to overload the outside tires contact patch a little sooner.
This is not only based on the physics of suspension dynamics but on trial and error too. Maximum cornering G's were achieved with these street tires at the current spring rates. I have spring sets from 300 lb/" to 1200 lb/" in 50 lb/" increments and in some cases 25 lb/" increments. Believe me, we have tested lots of combinations of sway bar and spring rates and found that the laws of physics have not been repealed. Some contact is better than no contact so increasing droop will help but reducing roll will not reduce weight transfer other than a very small amount related to cg height change. a 25 pound per inch front spring increase cost about .5 seconds during our last test. The Cobra is cursed with a short wheel base and narrow track width, neither are good for cornering stability.
