Well if my name was Candace I'd go by Evan too.

I refrained from stating Candace' last name in Registry, but same as Evan's. That's why I figured it was a gift.

I'm sort of hoping that Evan gets his price. Then multiple things happen:
1. CSX 4### owners all rejoice as a new high bar is created. This is how markets work, right?
2. The Kirkham owners similarly rejoice for the same reasons. After all, they pretty much have the same car without the Shelby badges. Again, this is how markets work, correct?
3. Evan opens up a fresh bottle of 30 year malt, pours himself a glass, and then quietly tells everyone here to shove it up their a$$.

The sale price all boils down to two algebraic equations:
Evan's Price = or > Vern's Price < $200,000
If Evan's Price > $200,000 then "Wish in one hand, $hit in the other. See which one gets filled first.

Of course the converse also holds true, if Evan doesn't sell (and it was on the market for awhile @ $229K), then -
1. No surprise to most CSX4### owners, they already knew Evan priced his car well over market value.
2. Kirkham owners could give a rat's ass, for less money they have a special 50th Anniversary CSX without the badges
3. Evan opens up a bottle of ripple, pours himself a drink in a paper cup, then screams at himself that everybody told him so and that his
head was in fact stuck up his ass

#1.... How do you think the Cobra market started to go crazy in 1976 ????? I could have doubled my cars price in 5 months ! As cars sold for more and more guys jumped on the band wagon. They never went back .. They created the "market value" so to speak. Evans car ?? As the expression goes there is an ass for every seat
#2.. Opinions ??? Some want em some don't.
Go Evan !!!¡ set a new price for "market value" !!

BTW, how do you define Evan's Price?
Prior to 2/28/2016 the price was $229,000.
After 2/28/2016, the price is $249,000.

I think it's like anything else.
Price vs. demand. Then add marketing value (which he certainly did) and keep an eye on interest in the product. Like he said.."negotiable"
Good product placement is the key, I guess.

I don't think Evan even really has "good product placement." He isn't advertising it on CobraCountry, AFAIK, like one of local Bay Area Cobra Club members is doing with his gorgeous early Kirkham:

Now, Dave's Kirkham has a dry sump, which I personally think is just about one of the coolest things to install in a Cobra, outside of having a SOHC engine.
Screw the badge, which is meaningless to me, but a dry sump FE engine is AWESOME.

Now that's a nice car! And at 100k or so less than Evan's, you can afford lots of badges or that old bottle of malt!

2 completely different cars . Again it depends what guys are looking for. As far as advertising it I sell a lot buy word of mouth. The old CSX badge was a #1 factor buying my car. Why ??? Because we have had Shelby's since 1970.. See ??? Just opinions.

Sir,
Just curious but what was Shelby s reputation in the 60s and 70s. Was he a superstar Car giant? Were buyers leaving deposits for Cobras?
The current car generation crowd knows Shelby as a slippery, old timer pitch guy.
It s also an unfair comparison between a car guy who grew up in the 60s to a present car guy buying nostaglia.

Yes, one is blue and one is black.
The fact that they're both alloy-bodied Cobras, both high-end builds, maintained to high standards by their owners, makes them almost EXACTLY the same in my mind.
A Shelby is a Kirkham with Shelby badge. That's a fact. No opinion.

Would be interested to know how Dave was able to stop misting oil out of cap on fender of his Kikham at high speed and rpm. We tried to use same cap but could not stop the slight mist of oil. I think the cap is correct and looks way better that what I have. It may be that I have more back pressure because the tank has oberg filters on top of it. Probably not the right place to ask question but what the heck.

I'm not 100% sure, but we both used Stewart Hall of Hall Fabrication & Racing to build our cars. And what he did for the gas cap leakage issue was create/fabricate/install a 2nd cap that threaded underneath the exterior cap. Stewart may done the exact same thing with the dry sump tank's oil filter cap.
