Add to that Europe was a huge buyer of US coal, but in the last few years, they have stopped buying due to the air quality issues. Coal production has dropped in the last 7 years, but that is more related to natural gas production being up. We are still putting out more coal that we did 20 years ago.

Yep......and this "natural"gas you just stick a pipe in the ground for.......straight destroys the underground water and not to mention how destabilizing it is for the earths surface........that's the part we live on.
.Every where there is fracking......the locals have to move ........or die........lovely....

With this administration no one should be surprised & with Judge Scalia passing Katie bar the door. I agree it could be a bad outcome for our hobby and for those of us who loves our guns, better hold on to them tight.

Yes, we (America) lost a great one with his passing. It could be bad for our hobby for sure!

Anyone who thinks these new regulations won't effect a hobby like ours because they don't race their cars should read this article:

The justification is that it changes the engine control unit so there is increased risk of the manufacturer getting sued.

Sounds to me like the real benefactors of this would be the Auto manufacturers. By, in effect, outlawing aftermarket engine parts, the manufacturers would have the market on performance cars & be able to raise the prices exponentially of performance based models.

It really is a rip-off. I got a coupon from a Nissan dealership a few months ago for a "free" safety inspection - just pay for the emissions inspection (both are required annually). The service adviser said I needed new rear brake pads. I declined since I do that myself. Went to the store and bought new pads and when I removed the first wheel, saw that I still had at least 75% left. The fronts were new, but I checked them anyway - good all around. Now I know why the adviser was trying to talk me into it saying I'd ruin the disks in short order - he knew I'd find out it was BS that I even needed pads. I'm sure there are endless similar stories out there...

Kevin - Consumer Reports published a story last month about the widespread fraud in the dealer service industry - your story was pretty much one of them they reported on. I do my best to stay away from dealer service departments.

Least anyone forget this looming, potential nightmare to our Hobby - if you haven't signed the White House petition or written your Congressman concerning this EPA rule that is being written in final form - please do so now. Be the squeaky wheel.
