I first started with a Mallory 30440 coil that only lasted about one year.
I bought this because I have the Mallory HiFire 6AL (not the MSD 6AL) and that is the coil they recommended.
I don't think they make this coil anymore and can't find it for sale anywhere. All the reviews say it dies quickly so they probably took it off the market.
I then started my hunt for a new coil. I ended up with the 5527 coil instead of the 8227 since all the reviews for the "newer" 8227 were terrible. I would stick with the 5527 if I were you. I haven't had any problems with mine (so far). I also found an original Ford TFI coil for dirt-cheap off ebay ($10 I think) that I have for a spare.
As far as the TFI ignition module, Danny on the Holley forum says only to run original Motorcraft modules. They supposedly help with starts and high-rpm misses that the aftermarket modules can cause. I never compared them - I switched out the module that came on the MSD distributor for the Motorcraft one before I installed it.
I also used a remote mount kit for the ignition module - clicky. PM me if you are interested in either of these (module, remote mount).
