Get a block from Brent when they arrive. Get an intake from Brent. get some heads and a camshaft from Blykins. Get valve covers and spark plugs and pullies and wires and a carb etc from him also. Let him build you a motor and be done with it. He is a premier engine builder.

I may get a block and parts from him, but we will assemble the engine ourselves to save money. My friend Chad is a very good engine builder, so I'm not worried. He build a lot of race engines including ours and other teams sprint car engines.

Or maybe a short block FE put together by him, then you take care of the top end yourself. That's probably doable.

Yes, I agree. Much faster that way and I completely trust Brent.
I just received two phone calls from members here on CC. One guy has several bock's and parts.
First guy for some reason won't write down all he has, and my memory sucks, so here's some of what I was able to write down. I don't know much details.
427- side oiler block for $4,000.
428- $2,500
Shelby FE-$6,500
390 HD bored & stroked to almost 427 for $2,500
The other member has two NOS side oilers, and lots of parts, but he had to leave the conversation, so I hope he gets back to me later.

Just because they're a member here doesn't mean you can trust them. Remember, in this hobby, assume the other guy is a crook until proven otherwise. Post their names, and what they want to sell and for how much, and we'll tell you whether your rose colored glasses are distorting your vision.

If he has blocks they are gold right now. Nobody has them.

I agree.
I can email anyone with our writings and photo's of the 427 center oiler. I just spoke with him on the phone. His name is Curtis Desaulos, AKA, Racer X.
He has a stock 428 that is newly built, but I want more HP & TQ than what that engine is built for.
Although I'm interested in his 427, it's a center oiler not a side oiler. He bought it from a guy that was freshing it up, but he passed away, so Curtis bought it and some Shelby parts for his Kirkham. He'll include the heads, valvetrain and a cam selection. He's going to email me with photo's of the heads and other parts. He does not have a intake.
It was balanced before (see the rods pic) then after he bought it, he wanted to check it all out.
He believes that with what he has and get a intake, it should be around 500 HP.
I'll see if I can post all of his pics here.
