These are really nice tail light units that provide a separate yellow turn signal.
https://www.spiyda.com/magento/index...board-115.html
The brake and tail light is moved to the lower half of the lens behind the reflector and the top half is a dedicated turn signal, which shines bright yellow through the red lens. These lights will work on 3-wire or 4-wire (including earth) setups.
The above light fittings will convert your existing lights, but if you want the complete light units, you need these:
https://www.spiyda.com/magento/index...amber-red.html
This is the new tail light:
And this is the tail light and turn signal:
The price shown is for a pair, but if you use discount code "L542cobra" you will get a £20 discount off the listed price. These are really nice quality units using aluminium circuit boards to act as heat sinks for the super bright yellow turn signals, which will ensure long bulb life, but spares are available from the same place if you ever need one. I have them on my Kirkham as do many of my Cobra friends and the difference is remarkable and a real safety aid in my view.

Do they have SAE markings on the lens?

The lenses supplied with the complete units probably don't as they're copies of the original Lucas L542 lenses. From memory, I think they have a BS number on them.

I think more things, and people, around here need just that.

Yes they have, SAE DOT IST 14 is the marking on the bottom of the lens.
I got them and tried them out, they work great and unlike other LED lenses they are not purely directional. You can see the light from different angles too.
It lights up the whole light and the brake/stop light is very bright.
Thanks again for the find strictlypersonl!!

Pete - FatBoy is offering a different tail light than the ones you and I ordered on Bob's recommendation. Apparently they don't have DOT lenses but that probably isn't an issue in a lot of states - Arkansas would never know. The yellow turn signal would be different - appears to be OK in most or all states.
But as I understand it, on cars such as ours that use a trailer relay to run the brake and signal lights on one wire lead, we would have to re-wire to separate the circuits to use his lights.
But - a couple good options now besides those pesky LED replacement bulbs.

Hi Dan,
You're right, but it's very simple and straightforward. The Kirkham uses the same setup, so you simply remove the connection from the brake light switch that goes to earth and run a wire (available with the lights) from that connection to the brake light wire (green/purple) on the light units and you're done.

OK - that sounds simple enough that I could even manage it. The yellow signal lights would be kind of cool - probably would be very noticeable by being a little different.

Paul,
Are the lenses on these the same as a stock lens? I have stock lens, but very disappointed with the brightness, even after installing (4) "1157-PCB-x36: 36-LED 1157 PCB Lamp 1157-PCB-R36-WV: Red 100 Degree" units.
www.superbrightleds.com
My real question is, do I need the whole new units you pictured, or just the LED pads w/yellow turn signals?
Do they really work significantly better?
Thanks
