Damn absolutely my fault and they must have not been balanced close enough. Now all seem to stumble when the air inlet is covered. Embarrassing to say but all my doing.

Still have the hesitation at speed to work through.

So now all eight barrels flow the same on a meter, and all 8 mixture screws are responsive?

Screwing any mixture screw either way should make that cylinder "go away", like pulling a plug lead.

Kirk V,
Any updates on the tuning. I too am messing with my new set of Weber's and having some of the same issues. PM me if you would like to commiserate on our problems.

Best Regards,
Byron

A few things that I've learned about my Webers. #1 Take NOTHING for granted, check your float levels. I found a float seam rubbing the bowl wall among other things. #2 It seems everything is more important when running these carbs i.e. spark, timing, AFR, etc. #3 A crappy cruise note is not uncommon but can be remedied. I just kept checking and experimenting, with the last piece of the puzzle being the utilization of vacuum advance after reading an excellent article on the subject. I couldn't believe how much more advance I was getting at no load which is what cruising is. Webers like a lot of all in mechanical advance, it appears that they like a good vacuum advance too. If all else fails, refer to rule #1!

Well cold weather is definitely limiting my test runs but what I have found is that I went from a size 70 idle jet to a 60 to make a drastic change in one direction or another as I thought I was running rich by smell.

The hesitation at speed was gone now but a rather large stumble when coming off of the idle circuit to the secondary’s.
I also found if I tried to go above 78 mph I was running out of fuel lol, but if I kicked in the secondary it was off to the races.

I have 65 idle jets on order and should be here this week and the experiment continues as it is definitely a learning curve.

rule # 1. Take nothing for granted.
Apply that rule to all your jet purchases.
I have seen jets engraved with a size that when checked with hole gauges where way out of specs.
This can play havoc with your tuning and steer you in the wrong directions.
Lots of made in china crap out there.
