Got the ebay unit and the four holes are there (I was worried drilling them would create a tear point). They are just covered with a thin layer or rubber that you pierce.

For future reference, after you removed the shifter ball, there is an Allen screw inside the top of the shifter lever that unscrews to unlock the lockout lever so you can slide it out the side of the handle for easy boot replacement.

Maybe on the shift lever from SPF, but the original Ford lever retained the top sleeve at the lockout mechanism at the bottom, where the cable was was brazed to the lockout "tang".

I just undid the two bolts holding my "hipo" stick to the shifter mechanism and pulled it out of the boot. A shot of spray silicone made inserting the stick down through the top of the new boot eazy.
BTW, my shifter is a PRO 50 on my Tremec 500 tranny.

different shifter
I changed the forward style shifter to a short 5 1/2" from Cobra Restorers. Also cut off the "non-functional" reverse handles and made a leather sleeve to cover the entire shifter right up to the ball.
The two shifter bolts were very easy to get to from the top side. Locktite made the first few turns tight but still an easy exchange.

The ebay results i get searching for C2AZ-7277-A show me two replacement units, but neither have the four holes for screws in them.
Would appreciate if somebody could provide a direct link to a well priced but quality replacement part thats correct?
