If nobody else down under wants to play with them, maybe we should see if one of them New Joisey boys want to dance around in pink panties and act pretty... Not Evan--not yet. Maybe Cranky or McMahon--they need something smooth and silky to make them smile, don't you think? E-mail em.

Dave Samson 03-03-2002 09:11 PM

Jamo,
You're a hard man, bet noone ever told you that before**)

will have to send out an SOS thread on that one.

wilf leek 03-05-2002 05:53 AM

Dave - love the jeep (but is it real/replica/repro etc?).
As I recall, there was another chap in OZ whop was bidding for the panties - 750hp???
Is that thing you are holding up the panties to a huge directional microphone you use to eavesdrop your neighbours "in flagrante"?

Dave Samson 03-05-2002 01:18 PM

Wilf,
It is the real thing, not from SAI but from Willys, a 1942 baby, fully restored.
The 5m. dia. "directional microphone" is my receiving dish for tv and radio programs from all the world. Turk was trying to instal one on his house roof over the weekend when the roof collapsed, was going to be his Sadam early-warning machine.

I'll try Aussie Mike in Melbourne.

Aussie Mike 03-05-2002 03:00 PM

Send 'em my way Dave. I'll email you my address.

Cheers

Dave Samson 03-05-2002 07:27 PM

Good onya Mike, well maybe I didn't find anyone on another continent, will have to settle for you on another planet.
Just finished fine tuning the ABS sensors today, will have to hose down the driveway and try it out.

G.R. 03-05-2002 11:05 PM

Dave

Did they really put "Caution left hand drive" on the bumper? And Why? I'm sort of a History buff (History major in college)and I didn't know that U.S. vehicles were so marked?

G.R. 03-05-2002 11:06 PM

Great restoration!

Dave Samson 03-05-2002 11:12 PM

G.R.
As you probably know, we drive on the other side of the road as in most British ex-colonies. Until a couple of years ago it was a big hassle to register LHD vehicles in most states of Australia and one of the requirements was to add that lettering to the front and back of vehicle. Now we can pretty well import and register anything that is older than 30 years without modification apart from fitting a seatbelt.

Dave Samson 03-05-2002 11:14 PM

G.R.,
Sorry as for "why", me no savvy.

G.R. 03-05-2002 11:26 PM

Dave

So that "caution" wasn't required during WWII? The reason I ask is I have not seen any photos of military vechicles in Australia(or England) that had that warning on the bumper in any of the books I have viewed .
You answered the Why. Thank you:3DSMILE:

wilf leek 03-06-2002 06:36 AM

Yes, but where's the Dawg???

Hey Dave, I just realised. Where's the dog??? You gotta have a dog in the POP picture, it's a Gasholes rule. (Sure his excellency the most honoured Chief High Gashole would agree with me on that?). Boy - this is fun, making up rules, normally only my wife does that, 'cept she introduces them way retrospectively.
Nice Jeep tho' - you do the resto yourself?

Dave Samson 03-06-2002 01:31 PM

Wilf,
No dog in this family, tried it twice and realized what a pain in the butt it is to have them around the house. Prefer the Energizer type with the shorter life span.

The Jeep restoration is my handy work, no big deal getting parts, lots of real spares around the world. Most spares are also re-manufactured in very poor quality in the Phillipines these days.
It's a lot easier to rebuild and maintain than the Cobra.

Jamo 03-07-2002 12:01 AM

Wilf

Only a few more weeks til Jamo & Co. invades Leics! I think we'll need a photo op--I'd suggest a double Gashole bare-a$$, but it doesn't look like you have much of one.:JEKYLHYDE

ERA535 03-07-2002 12:15 AM

Well, I guess everything is relative.

Jamo 03-07-2002 12:18 AM

Good one Madonna! I bent over for that kick, didn't I?
