What would it take to put wider tires on a Cobra?
It seems one of the biggest problems with driving a Cobra is getting all that power to the ground with such a light vehicle.
One solution to this would be wider rear tires. Are there any examples of Cobras that have wider rear tires and/or are there widebody kits available?
Interested to see some fat butts.

You'd be surprised at how little difference a slightly wider tire makes. And you can get too wide and loose performance. Too wide of a tire spreads out the weight across more square mm's.
Consider making suspension changes instead.

Wider tires will help, more important is the quality of the tires. There’s a huge difference between some pos bargain basement price tires and real high performance tires. If you’ve ever driven a car with Hoosiers racing tires on a road course, they’re like crack, the grip is unbelievable.

Wider tires will do very little. For straight line use drag radials.

I think there are a lot of other solutions before you go down that path. Tire type is probably the largest. If you are running BF Goodrich Radial T/A's and have 600 hp, it really isn't going to matter what width tire you buy. You are probably screwed. On the other hand, if you are running something that has a tread wear rating of 80 or so, you probably aren't having too many issues depending on what you are using the car for.
Lots of variables here and tire width to a degree isn't the highest priority.

I guess I don't understand. Mine had wider rears than front. Are yours the same all the way around or are you wanting wider still?
First what can the wheels accommodate?
Second, too wide and you'll have rubbing on other pieces and parts of suspension and wheel wells.

Its about tire quality and less about width.
If you use a tire that is designed for cars that are twice as heavy as a Cobra they will not bite as they are street tires for modern cars.
Example: BFG's are not designed for light - short wheel based cars.

First off we need more info. ?? What are you using the Cobra for (Track days, Auto-X, or just a better street tire?) I purposely used my rear tire as the weakest link in the drivetrain, WAY CHEAPER to replace tires than anything else in the drivetrain. If you go with anything less than a 100 treadwear, that tire will not be a tire you want to get caught in the rain with (Racing rain tires have deep channels, sticky street tires do not). Plus your opening up a can of worms, by stressing the rest of the drivetrain, as stated. Cheers TommyRot.

Which Cobra do you have? Small block, FIA/USRRC, Daytona, narrow hip big block, or wide hip big block? If your car is one of the many many, big block replicas, it is already a wide hip. No one has ever reproduced the narrow hip Cobra, shame though!

As mentioned earlier, the same weight on an increased area means less pressure on the road surface. That extra width can be a good thing ....or just the opposite.
Just remember - in cold or damp conditions, wider tyres are not your friend

I have the 335 PS2 Michelins. 1st, 2nd and 3rd can still be challenging.

15" i.e. 275/60/15 have better traction than 18" i.e. 345/35/18
Softer coils in the rear also help. Best to talk to a drag racer.

The Artnz/Butler with the super stiff X braced frame and the engine about 10 inches farther towards the rear i think really helps with handling and getting power to the ground and they could also mount a wider tire.

Mount spray nozzles in the wheel wells. As long as you're in there, mount two separate nozzles per wheel. One for traction compound, and one for bleach. Supply tanks in the trunk.
Gives you traction, and let's you put on a show

Years ago, I remember a tube frame Cobra with 14x32 on the rear. This was not ever a street driven car.
