OK, I did get the error when I submitted this post.

New server? We don't really know, but this was the performance we got the last time the forum was off the air for a week or so. Only for the same problems to come back (as has been the case multiple times.)
Faster servers aren't an issue here. Unless this truly was on a 486 with 20 year old SCSI drives, there simply aren't enough people and traffic to have the performance of 30 seconds to first byte be a server issue.
Errors like the above point to something much more basic than what hardware is underneath the hood.

Here's the new error, when I try to load a page and just get up and go fix something in the kitchen while I wait. Bottom Line: Same Problems, It Ain't Fixed, and You Can't Kid Yourself In To Believing It Is.

FYI, in the error message:
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 134217728 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 19388292 bytes) in F:\Inetpub\wwwroot\clubcobra\forums\network\functi ons_network.php on line 341
decimal 134217728 = 0x08000000
decimal 19388292 = 0x0127D784
If you see this error message after a post most likely the post happened so save the text and check before hitting submit again.
And for those who have noticed, in cases where you edited your original post with the error message added, that the "save" goes through with no error.

Took 4 minutes to open this topic page and another 3 minutes to get to the post reply window. Who knows how long to post and will certainly get the memory allocation error.
Nothing is fixed.

I love this forum however I'm finding that it is incredibly slow at times to navigate around. It cannot be due to heavy traffic or poor bandwidth as I am based in Oz and all you buiggers should be asleep by the time I get on
I am wondering what sort of memory capacity or speed the server has that is running this site!? There are times that it simply hangs or you need to wait 'minutes' for the page to update. can the administrator please have a look into this. Its getting very frustrating to use

The most recent login attempt this morning was met with the following message:
Database error
The Database has encountered a problem
Try the following:
- Load the page again by clicking the refresh button in your browser
- Open the ClubCobra.com home page, then try to open another page
- Click the back button to try another link.
The Club Cobra.com technical staff have been notified of the error, though you may contact them if the problem persists.
We apologize for any inconvenience.
This does not appear to be improving. It does appear to be getting worse.

Well I finally managed to log in. All morning when I tried it just set there and did nothing until it finally timed out. I tried it on two computers using different browsers and got the same thing. Is there still an active Moderator on the site?
Ok, I timed this post with a stop watch and it took almost 3 minutes before I got the fatal error message, but the post had gone in.

Good info Ron. It would be nice if Brent or someone would give the members an update on the status of the site, particularly relating to any plans to resolve the database issues and upgrade to supported software.
The lack of any response to these questions, which have been asked many times in so many words, can only be interpreted that there is no update. Hope I'm wrong......

Uhhhh, maybe we could get Alfa02 to send a postcard to Bill S. who can place an ad in the personals section of the New York Times using the secret code word that alerts Brent that the site is still f***ed up, just like always, and then we can get all excited hoping the tooth fairy will fix it but then we realize the tooth fairy isn't coming, doesn't care and simply can't be bothered.

Sorry, no postcards where I reside. However, a European swallow has been known to stop in with messages every now and then.
Bill S.
PS: Brent is working on things as he can, remotely.
PSS: Moderator duty is still left in Jamo's hands. Computerworks apparently has his hands full with grandchildren.

The forum has been totally unreachable most of the past week (maybe 2, it's off so much more than on that it's hard to remember exactly when). After the last hard outage it did come back and was fairly crisp but slowly degraded with the database errors, errors after posting that resulted in many double posts, etc. Then it started with "site unreachable" errors. That's the way it was for the past week.
Right now New Posts search found two new topics and the topics opened quickly. Finding this topic in my "all posts" lists was also quick.
Like always, it comes and then slowly (but more quickly as time goes on) eats itself.
(Edit: Posting this did happen without delays but it got the memory allocation failure after the post was successfully made.)

I finally managed to get on so I will see if I get that error after submitting this post. I have gotten it for the past month on every post but at least the post went in.
Yep, I got this error but the post went in. Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 134217728 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 19388328 bytes) in F:\Inetpub\wwwroot\clubcobra\forums\network\functi ons_network.php on
