				 Pulling a 427 out of a 4 speed ERA
 Anyone have any tricks? I do a lot of FEs and a lot of Mustangs. Pretty open under there but it does not have a removable transmission crossmember and doesn't really look like the engine can go too far forward. Thinking maybe leaving the tranny and bell hanging and jack it up as I high as I can and lide it off the input
 Headers, etc, all easy and done, just doesn't look like I have the forward clearance to get the tranny tail to drop if I do it as a unit.

 Thanks!

 Can you pull the engine / trans forward and the up? A little bit each way at a time. An additional body or two would help.
 I've done this in and out on my previous Superformance cars. Not sure how the ERA chassis is different. This also seems to work on the Factory Five cars.

 The tunnel comes out of ERAs for easy transmission removal then pulling the engine is easy.
 Just remove the seats and the trans tunnel will come right out. The trans is removed from the top. If using a cherry picker you will have to come in from the side instead of the front.

 Disconnect the transmission, leave the bellhousing on, just go straight in with your lift and here's a pic of a friend's ERA having it dropped in with a Kubota. |

 These guys R&R’d a lot of engines in the original cars using this approach;

 It's out and apart, I have to tell you, that was the easiest engine removal I have ever done short of a dyno.
Looked like I didn't have room, but I jacked the tranny up a bit and lifted it right out, cherry picker on the side. Easy as pie, the old girl wants to be fixed I think
