Italiano
Russ, if you like italian exotics, this is the show to be at. There is also a Corral area for non-italian cars. For example, one car I recall from a previous event was the older 800HP Jaguar with wide flares/tires, with a Ford Boss 429 stuffed in it. Crazy stuff there too. You'll see more nice high-end cars there than you might see in a lifetime on the road. More than 1/3 of the cars in the parking lot are a showcase on their own. Some of us Cobra/Shelby club members like to meet up there because the Corral fee to enter your car and two people is ($30) less money than the regular entrance fee for two people. If your going to fly all the way out here, it's worth checking into on Friday.

Will be coming from LA in SPF 243 for our third year in a row. Wouldn't miss it - especially considering this year's theme.
See y'all there -

I will be there Friday and Saturday. Look forward to my annual meeting with Rich Mason, Terry Krystofiak, Cal Metal and Snakeyes (even though he lives 40min. away from me). It would be nice to meet more people from CC. I also look forward to catching up with Turk and Jamo if I can.

Assolutely Mista Kee!
Ran into Dick Smith at the local barber shop (he wanted to know who owned the pretty arruminum thing out front ) and we began comparing notes about our motors which were both built by Boghosian--he just put his in #198 recently and is anxious to run her through her paces at Laguna as well as in the Concours Rally.
I think this is going to be one of the better Historics of the past several years by all accounts.

David,
This time we will connect. I can't direct you to my car, I won't have one. Look for me at Shelby display. I will be the one wearing a Gashole hat and probably driving a Kia.

Are you saying that Dick will have his car at the Historics? Would be nice, as I have not seen his car participate their for many years.

Yup...that's his plan! In fact, he's going to try to join us over at the corral when he's not running.

Pacific Grove
Hi Bill,
the last few years Dick has brought the Cobra down to Monterey and Pacific Grove. On more than one ocassion, he has entered it in the small-town gathering on Saturdays where there is a parade in the late afternoon / evening around 6:00pm (after Laguna Seca) We stay there in Pacific Grove and he is usually there in the PG area every year late Saturday.
A funny story a few years back when he parked loud #198 next to my car in front of the bed and breakfast where we stay at each year. The post parade dinner was at the Dinner Hall there. As he drove up pipes crackling away, there was an uninformed (cocky) car owner sitting there wiping down all of his waxer Ferarris out front of our Inn. This guy's goal is to hog all the spots each year and not drive the cars all weekend...argh. The Ferrari owner started making bold comments with his buddies staying there... soon to realize what the Cobra and #198 meant, its history, and who the driver was. It was a priceless moment. You just had to be there...

Saturday at the Nor-Cal corral with my car and a friend with a GT 350--I hope there is going to be a
really good photographer on
hand--this is going to be awsome !! We might be able to arrange
a good group photo i.e.--like the famous Ferrari picture-- say
around noon Saturday ? Just a thought--

I would love to see MacArcher and Dick both hunting down all the cars on their 10-lap run at Laguna! I know Dick likes to run his car flat out. Will be a treat to see his car run. Should be interesting to say the least.

Hey...
Jamo,
actually, maybe that is exactly what I'm trying to say. Cobras are slowly taking over there now, and those 7:00 a.m early moring startup and warmup sessions are a contributing factor. He gets 18 of the 22 rooms for his employees that drive all of his waxer cars down, just to sit there all weekend and take up front spots. It took years, but we have 4 rooms now at this cool B&B, and gaining ground. It's a funny story, and if I see ya, I'll have to tell you about it. Feel free to stop by on one of the weekend days while you are there! Hopefully we'll see you at Laguna.

A link to the entry list:
http://www.montereyhistoric.com/event/participate.html
Last time I checked, a dozen GT40s, five or six 427 Cobras, nine or ten 289s, and two or three Daytonas, not to mention more Shelby Mustangs and Tigers than you can shake a Ferrari at...but who's counting.
Not to mention the Historic Trans Am and F1 cars...it's no Goodwood, but I think we'll muddle through...

Rare opportunity for a ClubCobra person with Cobra
Members,
A rare last-minute opportunity for a ClubCobra member with a Cobra. A nice Bed and Breakfast room might come available last minute for the Monterey Historics / Concourse Weekend. We reserved these rooms exactly one year ago, and have been on the list for the last seven years just to get these. We could actually double our money on it if we wanted to, but it will be a straight pass through to a CC member bringing a Cobra. Here is the deal...
One of our crew going down is almost certainly not able to go now last minute. We've have several parties interested without cars and outside of the country that want the room, but first option goes to someone we know from ClubCobra wanting to bring a Cobra to take advantage of it. This is a nice opportunity for the right person and a spouse still looking for a room.
To get the room...
* You must bring a Cobra
* Staying Thursday through Sunday night
* Someone who likes staying in quaint B&Bs, and could bring a spouse would be an ideal situation for someone, but not required.
* If you get the room, you will have an opportunity to reserve it again for yourself the next year. Some of us waited 5-years to get on the list! You will now be on the list.
* Includes...I have one Shelby Corral pass for Laguna Seca for both Saturday and Sunday that you will receive from me.
* Room stay is a 4-night minimum. $189 per night, (normally $295) on this once in a lifetime weekend.
* CC Members or family members of memers only.
Got to let me know pretty quick. Respond to this post. I'll check mail later this evening to see if there any takers. Good luck. Duane

WOULD BE NICE TO SEE AN ARCHER/SMITH "DUEL". I DONT THINK ARCHER CAN RUN AS HE HAD ALITTLE "CONTACT" LAST YEAR AND IS OUT FOR ONE YEAR...VINTAGE. THEY WILL BE AT THE NOR-CAL MINI NATS AT THE END OF AGUST. THAT VINTAGE RACE AT SEARS SHOULD BE FUN AS THAT RUN GROUP WILL HAVE...ARCHER, SMITH, MASON, PARK, GIMBLE, KOPEC, PARDEE, EPSINE FOR STARTERS. I PLAN TO GRID LAST, FINISH LAST!

Cobra...
Terry,
did you get the cobra back? The last time we talked, you had sold the ERA to that gentlemen who provided that scary demonstration at Cal Expo... Same car repaired, or a different one?. I went and saw that car afterwards ya know while it was in the holding tank. I ask because I see it says ERA in your profile again... Duane
