Yes they were Omnis, but they were kicking mustang and camaro butt. It goes with Shelby's philosophy of big motor, little car. They had somewhere aroung 180ft/lbs of torque in a 2600 pound car. Some Shelby Chargers were intercooled and had about 23% more power yet. They rode like they had no springs, flat cornering attitude, and cheap. (take that how you want)
