Oooopss -- forgot what the poll was asking and voted for the USRCC car as most valuable.
I think that the USRCC is one of the nastier looking Cobras photographed. I have not seen one in person for a long time. I did see one over 10 years ago in Sacramento Ford museum (I think) There was a 427 there as well, but the USRCC looked better.
Besides it did need at least 1 vote.

Well.....it has been a week since I contructef this poll--with the assistance from Ron Richards. Looks like the Flip Top and the CSX 3002 car ended in a dead heat. Thanks to all for participating and hope you had a good time in agonizing over your choice!!

As answer to CSX4027
Interesting, but not quite true. I bought the 3002 from Shelby after Ken was killed. I raced it for about 1-1/2 years in the Lone Star Region SCCA.
The aluminum heads were removed when I got it because they were illegal in SCCA racing. They were sold to a friend who raced GT350s. He resold them, but I don't know to who.
The dry sump was also pulled and replaced with a partitioned oil pan for the same reason.
The original wheels that were on the car were stolen during a break-in at my shop (The Pit Stop - in Austin, Texas). I had to buy another set from Shelby American.

Did you notice that the last post in this thread, before yours, was 17 almost 18 years old?
This is archival material not a live thread, although it is possible to post to it. Many of the original participants may have sold their cars, moved on to other interests or sadly passed on.
Look to more recent threads to make a positive contribution.

Thanks for the info David! I certainly consider this a positive contribution. The thread is old, but certainly this info is more than relevant. Not too many of the owners of the real originals pop in here.

appreciate your input, David
also thanks for reactivating this old thread, maybe the answers for the title question are others than 17 or 18 years ago.
I will start the new row of answers with:
CSX 2345, world champion race car, unrestored original '65 race condition
could it get better?

I realize that I have not posted here in many years. As I age, I am curious about my history - Loved the Cobras that I had owned, driven and raced and was always interested to see what had happened to them. Of course I wished that I had hung on to them, but their sales financed other endeavors that might not have been...
Does anyone know who currently owns CSX3002? I have gotten calls over the years asking questions about the car by people who claimed to be "looking to by it from its owner at the time", but there were usually discrepancies in their stories that made me suspicious.

Saudis offered $30M+ for Shelbys original 289 Cobra. It sold for less to an American family cus Shelby American wanted to keep it in USA. So I’d choose that one.

Actually, that tall tale had been debunked several years ago, sorry.

It may have been real. No one will ever really know since the other party is silent. In any case, when CSX2000 went to auction the mythical buyer(s - supposedly there were multiple 8-digit offers over the years) were not present. The car was sold to Greg Miller (Larry H Miller's son) and resides in the Shelby American Collection museum in Boulder, CO.
Shelby American was not involved in the sale. The car was sold by Carrol's estate.

I agree with Peter....how could it get better?
If you don't have your glasses handy, here's another compilation of 2345's achievements...

I had forgotten that 2345 was owned by Volk. As I've said many times, if you've never been to the Shelby American Collection in Boulder, CO, it's a must see. The collection also houses CSX2000.

Like it or not, I believe this is the most valuable Cobra. Carroll Shelby actually turned down 25M when he was alive.

It still sold for 13.75m (including buyer's fees) which still places it at the top of the realm.

Thank you Glen, for posting Steve's (Volk) CSX-2345, I agree (If) it every came up for sale (I Highly doubt it) that it would bring a record amount for a Racing Cobra. Steve told me when we get to see the museum (Hopefully this next spring or early summer) I will be allowed to sit in 2345, more than reason enough to go I've sent a voice mail (yesterday) to Steve and Lynn, about the Cobra that Ken Miles drove @ Kent 1963 (USRRC) race it was I believe the black or dark blue #98 car? Does anyone here have that info? That's the car I rode in with Ken that Sunday after the race. CSX???? Here's a short video of that race. Cheers TommyRot. https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q...tail&FORM=VIRE
