Everyone, Pete C, Casa, Hal, Jamo............
Everyone,
This one was witnessed (at least in Stage II) by lotso Carpenteria citizens: A lady in a bright red Miata was in the starboard lane at the lights just outside the main (large) mall and she YELLED over: "Is that the new Miata?" I just pointed to the P-lot, made a right-hand turn from the left lane (I still was on Jamo's insurance ---just kiddin' Ronster) and followed her into the mall. Parked next to her car---hence this strange comparao---the Butler looked (and probably was) SMALLER than the Miata. She repeated her question and I responded "Why yes it is...". She then said "What are those loud pipes?" I said, "Oh, just aftermarket add-ons---mostly for looks..."
Pete C
Your wish is my command---we could go farther down the food chain---the Leeside, p'raps? Lunch could be 4-6 Sapphire G&Ts.....BUTT.....The main ideas were: 1) to see some of the bipedal organisms, and 2) take you to Blake (Deep Submergence Lab) to see "Jason" (Ballard's robotic submersible). And therefrom to steal some pahts for our cars! 3) the Pete C entourage stays at the "Cliff House" (in-laws' renter with unparalelled ocean views, and then 4) heads for Casa Phreddie in Five Islands, Maine and points Eastward thence..
Casa,
Agreed, BUTT I hope to GAWD that someone taped these two beauties from the Man Show: 1) the "talking" deer tied to the station-wagon fender and 2) the "men's fashion show" in wh/ they featured a revolting nose-hair wearing black socks, a red Speedo and black lace-up chews AND a retiree from Port Charlotte (Fla) with color coordinated everything right down to the colostomy bag.... I am going to check "Movies Unlimited" (1-800-4-MOVIES) to see if they've got a "Best of the Man Show" compendium.....!!! NOTE to all movie-buffs---this is the greatest VHS/DVD warehouse on the planet.
Hal, Jamo,
It's 8 degrees F outside now---and I STILL can't wait to pop open the shed and fire her up!!!! Remember the Cushman scooter ride in "Dumber"?
Everyone,
By the way, the Miata woman continued her original question: "Is yours smaller?" Jamo, you already KNOW the deadpan mime that followed.....let's just say that I hooked my vestigial thumbs into the waistband of me shorts....yah, you got the picture...(It brought down the House).....

I find it interesting that the GT-40 crowd seems to have escaped the "is it real" syndrome. I was at the Goodguys car show last November in Scottsdale and hanging out with BTSnake and his RF GT-40. The comments went like "I've never seen one of these for real" and "I didn't know they made a street version of these..." As I recall, Hershal would clue in those who seemed genuinely interested.

All I have had so far is positive comments
All the kids in my neighborhood are flipping out over her.
The (motorhead and average) guys on the street all give me the double thumbs up
And the girls, well, it seems I am suddenly quite... popular
Ignore the idiots ... the world is full of them. Some guy in a pathetic, battered, badly-in-need-of-mechanical-help mazda RX7 tried to "race" me last night.. my female passenger and I got quite a giggle. I got rolling, then punched it halfway...for one second, and then smiled.

So here I am lined up in the hot pit lane at Thunderhill waiting to go out on the track. Engine is off, we are waiting for the track to be cleared. Some girl walks bye with her boy friend and says "Isn't that car cute." Well guys I don't know about you but I don't see my Cobra as being "cute". So I fire the motor and rev it. Shut it down and say "It ain't cute!"
FIA Mike
PS: Miata's are cute.

The Day I got my first Cobra, An Excalibur I bought up in Chicago, My wife and I were driving it back to St. Louis proud as we could be. We pulled over for from Gas just South of Chicago and a very loud blue Cobra pulled up (at the time I knew nothing about Cobra's so I don't know what kind it was) My car was "A LOT" better looking but the guy looks at me and asks? "is that a big block?" No.....he smiles and drives away...well I get to St. Louis and the car goes directly under the knife, and 3 months later new suspension and 625hp, "SMALL BLOCK"..........
But as you can see my new cobra is a BIG BOY!!

"You would have to be an idiot to pay $250,000 in 1966 for a fibreglass bucket". I overheard this while at a local car show last year. Funny thing was that this guy was in his mid to late 50's and should have known that the originals were not fibreglass, nor did they cost $250k, and if that wasn't enough he must have never learned how to read because the show board said "REPLICA".

Is that Evans Cobra?
No, it's a "real" Superformance Cobra.

The people that call them Corvettes KNOW that is a 60's car, and probably havent heard of a Cobra. I give them credit for knowing that much!

well.. I've only owned the car for a couple of weeks now.
2nd day .. went to show it off to my buddies at work. One steps out of his car and says "why would buy something like that?". I proceeded to make fun of the goo in his hair, the fact that he plucks his eyebrows, and goes to a tanning salon twice a week until his walked away (like a fairy).
3rd day I owned it - I call Chuck (aka Lurch from the Adams Family) at Cobra Restorers in an effort to get an appraisal for insurance purposes on my FFR. His reply, "I'm not interested in appraising your car ... I only deal with REAL replicas (isn't that an oxymoron?) like a Kirkham or ERA." I said "phuq you very much" and hung the phone up.

Chuck@cobra restorers is a piece of $hit,
I'm surprised ERA or Kirkham has anything to do with him?, guess it's money first. Many of us Georgia boys have known (of) him and tell all to avoid him like the plague.
