It's my duty as a husband and a father to provide my family with as much protection as I can, which is why my wife drives an Expedition.

I was thinking of getting an armored personnel carrier for the same reason. Then I'll outweigh the rest of you by tons.

Dan: You left something out (something they are just starting to attack, but you haven't heard much YET), and I was waiting for them to go after.........................BIG houses!
"BIG homes" are a waste! Use way too much energy (heating and cooling) and take up too much land space! I heard a group of "lefties" start this a couple weeks ago - right after they finished bashing SUV's. Not only do they want to tell us what we can DRIVE, but they also want to control the size of the HOME we live in!! When is this country going to wake up and see what Liberals REALLY are, and what they stand for? I thought 9-11 would get peoples attention and people would start throwing liberals out of the country, take control of our borders, and start kicking some a$$ to keep our rights and freedoms. That lasted, what...............couple months??? How many American flags did you see after 9-11? How many do you see today...........besides the ones you see people stomping on during the news?
I'll keep my SUV, V-8 BMW, 3 BR House (no kids, so are 2 BR's going to waste?), and all my firearms. Why? Because I WANTED them when I bought them.....I want them NOW, and it is MY RIGHT as an American to have them. I dare some liberal wacko to try and take them away.
We can only hope the Libs will go one step "too far" one day, and people will see them for what they really are. I'm afraid that's just wishful thinking however. There are WAY too many wacko's, and lets not forget just plain IDIOTS, in this country who either don't know any better, don't care, or just plain want to control our lives.

Take from the "haves" and give to the "have nots"...............just to try and make things "fair". Maybe we should get rid of "tests" and the "Deans list / Honor students".......don't want to hurt peoples feeling or self esteem. How dare you drive a BMW when alot of others can only afford an Escort ! Why should YOU drive an SUV when others are in cars........what if you hurt somebody!? Think of the gas you are wasting and the pollution you are spewing!! ...........................these are all things we have been hearing from the PC crowd and the Liberals the past few years! We would have slapped these idiots and called them CRAZY 15-20 years ago!!!! Look whats going on in California right now with the new smog Bill (SB-708). If that passes in Calif (and you know it will), God help us in the other 49 states! Start kissing your Cobra's (as well as your rights / freedoms) good-bye.

Ron61, I think it was Denver, I KNOW it wasn't Texas...the bill wanted to make pets into "companions", not possessions, so you could get sued for pet abuse...civil fine of maybe $100,000?!? Dumb and dumber!

It's sick out there and getting sicker! Actually America is lost, as we have known it, and it is only a matter of time before the lefties take over completely. The right just doesn't have the nerve to stand up to them.

It's a well known fact that the only reason socialism hasn't worked yet, is because it has tried by the wrong people.

Edley: there was a thread on this earlier..........try the Lounge. Someone had a website posted (sorry, don't know what it is off hand) and I checked it out. Wasn't very detailed however. I don't think they want people to know the truth about the bill and what it will do! Sneeeeky.......aren't they? That's California for ya! Maybe someone from your state can help us out with that website????

I'm going to be in LA for a week starting the 22nd of this month. Can't wait to get over there with all the wacko's!!! Oh well, I go for the golf and the weather. I just ignore the wacko's.

I make up for driving my Giant Ford F150Supercrew that only gets 19MPG on the highway by driving my cute little english roadster replica that gets about 15MPG.

Oh yeah if I catch anyone putting a bumper sticker on my vehicle I will put a boot up their tree hugging A$$.

I drive a F150 Supercrew and my wife drives an Expedition. I am considering trading up the Expedition for an Excursion because it is larger. BTW I am not really concerned with fuel mileage! I would much rather buy gas for an SUV than drive some piece of Jap-Crap!

Someone tries to put one of those stickers on my truck and they'll find out I am pro death penalty real quick. The nerve some of these people have is unbelievable.

I have some lamea$$ idea and now I'm going to try and force it on others.

It's kind of like calling your organization Green "Peace" and then blowing $hit up. Hello .... McFly... anyone home in there.

Berkeley may be a great school but they need to nuke it for breeding these morons.

Flying Freddie and Dan Stryffeler are on the right track.

Here is my take on it, you guys remember back in 1973 during the gas crisis, the same tree-hugging a-holes started making a big noise about motor racing. That was until the info came out that the gas used by those going to football, basketall and baseball games amounted to more than 100 times than all other sports put together. That killed the objection over motorsports. It was then that the Jap cars became popular, small, underpowered tin cans.

It also depends where you live. I remember first noticing Suburbans on a hunting (another thorn for tree-huggers) trip to Texas. They seemed appropriate for the terrain. And if you got the bucks, more power to you. In 1995 I drove my new XJ6 Jag to the Florida Panhandle and needed to take it in for service and found that the closest dealer was hundreds of miles away. Everyone there drove pickup trucks. That was OK with me. Different strokes for different folks.

Back in the early 1980s, the Cocaine Cowboys in Miami popularized the Big Broncos. Shortly thereafter everyone had a Bronco. I had one then and got hooked on SUVs. Had many since then.

I predict that soon the same people will be on some other kick. That is, unless they go the route of the abortion wackos and they become radical, shooting the occasional SUV owner just to further their cause.

My dad always used to say that at any given moment, there are 20 million idiots living among us.

Only thing I have against SUV's--are the idjit "soccer mom" types, that drive the damn things like they own the road and their ssss don't stink, all the while with a cell phone glued to their ear, trying to put on make-up and comb their hair--yeah their kids might be safe , but heaven help any of us other poor fools on the road with them.

I didn't hear on the 60 minutes report but have heard from other sources:

The death rate for SUV's is actually higher per vehicle than most other cars due to "roll over" incidents. That makes sense when you consider a large percentage of the "drivers" of SUV's would not hesitate to "yank the wheel" when conditions become unfavorable and thus, "roll over". But the report I read was considering roll overs from several causes. Like a "post accident" hit followed by a roll over, or in the recent case of Ford, a tire blow out.

That took a lot of steam out of the "safty" argument for me. By the way, it is kinda funny Cobra owners talking about "safty", lol.

Ken,

Thanks for the correction on where the pets weren't to be pets. I just couldn't remember and didn't want to point the finger at Texas or any place since I wasn't sure. And now that you mention it, I do remember that it was companions and not posessions. I still thought it was a waste of time and money and just something else to justify some idiot's job. I think anyone should treat theur pets well and most do, but there are some that are as bad as the ones that lock thei children in a hot car for hours while they go off shoping.

Ron

I think TerrySPF has it right... probably the next evil is big houses.

About a year ago, some concerned citizen came around looking for donations for his cause; he was concerned that we - in Northern Ohio, are paying more for electricity than some southern areas... he wanted $100. The money would apparently go towards lobbying for a bill which would reduce our rates by 5%.

My monthly bill is about $35 (average), times 12 months=$420, a 5% reduction would be $21 - so...... I guess he wanted me to pay $100 to save $21. Another example of the brilliant liberal mind at work... trying to save all of us from big industry, big cars, big homes, big gas (sorry Gasholes!), etc.

- Dan

Excalibur,

I heard that as well. In examining the matter futher, these rollover incidents occured due to improper weight distribution. Once the aft area is properly loaded with beer and guns, they hug the road like a formula one.

Ooops, forgot to take my P.C. pill today.
