Unhappy Looking for a 289

Does anyone out there know where I can find a 289. I'm getting ready to build a GT40 and I would like to put a 289 in it for corectness. Actually, I'd like two (2) as I'm thinking of building two cars. The first for resale, and the second as a keeper. I've been checking quite a few junk yards here in central Ohio, but older stuff is hard to come by. I suppose I could go with 302, but I'd like it to be pre-1972. Oh yea, to title a GT40 in Ohio, I was wondering if it can be titled as a '66-'69. Or do you have to go by engine year. I want to avoid the whole emissions thing.

Default 289 engine

Hi Jim,

I have a 289 engine with a block casting of D1 for sale. It is posted on this site. Look in the parts for sale and search for 289 engine. It has lots of goodies on it. If you can't find it my email is j_nassef@hotmail.com.

Thanx,

Joeypaul

Ford stopped making 289s in late 1967. With a casting date of D1 you have a 302/5.0.

Mark IV I'll look to see if i have a spare set on main caps .
