I think you can find a 40 for around 220k, dont hold back, cut the top off and make your dreams come true. 
as for an unrestored s/c........... I was offered one locally last year for $425k... ...I caught myself seriously considering it....... and slapped myself sober.
That looks like a beautiful 428, I'll bet I could be happy with it for a fair while
