Cracker you make a strong case for SOME kind of "race" tire for these Cobras!!! I USED to run the T/A's, which are considered "good" street traction tires.

Then I switched to Yokohamas DOT Auto X "race" tires. The difference is night and day! The Cobra feels much safer on the street and is WAY faster on the track. You can't beat "sticky" tires when it comes to controlling your car!

,,,,uh,,,,the down side is I promptly wasted my posi track rear end unit (Ford 9") due to excellent traction! If the tires don't "give" SOMETHING has to.

For those of you with slabside 289's and wire wheels, I highly recommend the Michelin XWX 215VR70/15 sold by Coker Tire. Great original look, and they fill up the wheel wells perfectly.
Best wishes,
Alan in L.A.

Excaliber - your right about "something" else gives. In my case I broke the Watts Linkage on my rearend that bolts to the hub carrier. It's a small price to pay for the increased safety and handling.

The Goodyear billboard tires are the right look for a Cobra.

Once the lettering yellows a bit they actually look better.

When they are cold their road holding and handling is best described as greesy.

When the billboards warm up I think they are great as far as grip and actually ride better then the radials. They tend to hunt a little following the little grooves etc in the road but you get used to that.
