83 Glaspac Cobra Tranny
Is there an owner of an oringinal Glaspac Cobra which came off the assembly line with the original small block and four speed tranny. Much research has not revealed the tranny make. This is a four speed with only two shift rods. One works off a vertical shaft coming out of the tailshaft housing, the other off a horizontal shaft through the main unit. There are two side inspection covers on this unit. One on the main unit, the other on the tailshaft housing. This tranny now requires syncro replacement after 20 years and I would like to determine if parts are available. In todays terms this unit would look like a side loader T5 combo except that it is cast iron. The early style bell housing is utilized. Sound input will be appreciated.

Sounds to me like a GM T10 style transmission. Get yourself over to the Hurst shifter website, order a catalog, they have a transmission identifier (you match the pictures and side views shown)........

A T-10 would have three shift rods (1-2), (3-4) and reverse. The reverse rod lever originates from the tail housing, as that is where reverse is located. The two forward shift levers are on the main case side cover. The same is true of a Muncie or a Super T-10. None of them have two side inspection covers, just one.

Thanks for the input. No less than 20 pro's have told me no way the tranny can only have two shift rods until they see the pics. All walk away. Personally I spent several hours in old motors manuals researching the unit. Nothing would come close to this transmission. Initially we thought it was some variance of the T-10 but soon put that aside. I will just change the unit out if no infor is available.

The tranny is a Clark 260F, made in Brazil. This Transmition was used on the Brazilian 302 V8 Ford Maverick, on the Brazilian 318 V8 Dodge Dart, and on some Chevy and Ford Pick up trucks.
Clark Transmitions of Brazil was purchased by Eaton, called now Eaton Fuller.
Send me a note if you still need those parts from Brazil. May be you will be able to find it in US.

Sorry for the delay... I am in Vacation, and I was traveling....
So... Yes, that is the one, but the one on the picture is from a Ford Pick-Up truck, with the shift lever direct mounted on the top of the tranny "back cannon", as the lever of the pick-up is mounted more forward than it was in the maverick. Also, the bell housing bolt fixing plate has a different shape (more close to the GM plate), and the input shaft is different. The gear ratio also changes.
This picture you are showing is nice, because you can see that this transmition has an internal gear change system, and the rods used on the Maverick and on the Glaspac Cobra is only to make the internal system to work, not to change the gears by themselves, like the regular rod change system trannys.
On the youtube Brazilian Dodge 318 Tranny videos, you can see that the transmition is just the same! The only differences are the bell housing bolt plate, and that the lever is direct mounted on the Dodge tranny. On the Brazilian Dodge (Charger, Dart, Le Baron...) it is used with the Chrysler 318 V8 engine.

My Name is Alec. My father was one of the owners of a fiberglass company in Brasil called Glaspac. They manufactured Cobras in Brazil between 1981 and 1987. A large portion of the production went overseas (US, UK, Switzerland and one even went to Japan). 37 years after my dad sold his car I was finally able to track down a sound car here in Brazil and buy it. 3 years later, it is finaly getting to where I wanted it... fast stable and reliable. Anyway, I wanted to put this thread out there as it would be a privilage to find owners out side of Brazil (I have foind 22 cars here) and hear your stories.
