As more and more people comment on the thread, it moves to the top again and again, causing more people to read it and comment on it, moving it to the top again and again, causing more........well, you see what I mean!!! LOL !!!

i am still laighing that some people sign up for email notification of when a thread has been responded to. I leave the site for five minutes and there's a whole new page of reading, on one thread. There are only so many technical discussions at a time, and frankly the BS'ing about everything else is what keeps me coming back.

I agree! Most of the good people wouldn't hang around here if it were a sterile information only atmosphere! Besides threadjacking keeps your thread at the top so that those of us who are in & out all the time can catch up.

I look at the beginning of the post, if it goes off, so do I. Saves me a lot of time.

Brent,
This is a symptom of visiting the Gashole site. Many enter coherently and exit totally disoriented. Most enjoy that constant state of entropy.

decooney, in all seriousness, we can try at times to split off topic stuff out of the threads, but truthfully, there's so much information being shared here daily, that it would be difficult to keep up with, and ultimately would put us in a strange situation. The decision to split the threads is sometimes easy, but often very difficult, as the cases are not always black and white.
What I would suggest is that if you feel a thread is totally off base, send mail to the moderators, but use your judgement. There's just no perfect answer for this issue.

Thanks Brent...
Thanks Brent,
understood, and no big deal really. The good old browser scroll and page down function allows us to roll right by the crap to get to the good stuff anyhow. We know who/what IDs create the valued Cobra-related posts and good jokes, and who generates the same old repetitive unrelated crap each week. The real joke is on the ones who spend tons of time generating crap, and they actually believe we take time to read their posts - like this one.
Scroll right by... here is another one for the crapper!

Threads usually stay "On topic" for the first few pages/40 or so posts; then someone writes something to hijack the thread, a few more people comment on that "new" hijacked thread, and then everything dies out and goes away. JMHO!

Oh you mean like a real conversation with someone? You know, cover the business part, get the answers and then comment on the family, tell a joke or talk about the news of the day.
Yeah, I kind of like that. You can usually get the answer within the first 40 posts or so. Unless the question is really "embarrassing", then it could take 40 pages!

I agree with Brent -- SEND the moderators emails --- LOTS of emails!!!!
Who cares what topic it you send it under. Just send them. Especially Turk. He seems much more confused about moderation.
Ron --- He seems to have the quick hook out to drag a thread to the lounge. Don't send him off as many email. I think that he has the ability to actually send a virus to your computer.
