Mike-

From the front end features, the highly-polished wheels, and the tank configuration, I'm going vote for 2558!

I Guess everyone gave up on this one ! Anyway Vic Franklin stopped past the other day a And told me that the Cobra Pictured is CSX-2557. It was for sale & the owner sent vic those pics! The selling price was 10,000 Bux in 1974 !!! I don't have a newer registry to back up this info. Dodge Ohmsted Bought the car. Here's a pic w/ both Cobras CSX-2260 & CSX-2557

Mike:
Sorry, I haven't been on-line in a while. (Was busy preparing 2 Cobras for "Cobra Day" at the Petersen Museum in L.A. We had 118 real A.C. / Shelby Cobras at the event! It was sensory overload.) Anyway, to answer your question, yes, there were some minor differences in the trunk/ tank configuration between the early FIA cars and the later USRRC cars. (At least, some old photos I have show different details.) I figured the car in the picture was a USRRC version, based on the photos you posted. And, if Vic Franklin suggests this is the car that Dodge Olmstead bought, then my guess is correct, as Dodge actually bought 2558, not 2557. (Have Vic double-check this.)

Question

Could somebody explain how fuel went from the main tank to the aux tank? Were did fuel pick up from, the main or aux tank? From the photo's I have seen, and from looking at the tank in 2259, it seems to me that the transfer hose between the two tanks would be inadequetly sized to quickly fill the tanks during a pit stop.

Thanks

CowtownCobra: Since it was a 70's sale, 2557 had the "bell bottom" or "Wide lapels" so fancied in the 1970's!! lol !!
