The "best deal" is to insure a Cobra as an antique and/or use classic car insurance. The biggest catch with these is you're only supposed to drive the car to shows. No driving to work or the store or any other "regular use". I'm sure lots of folks have classic car insurance on their Cobra replica and don't follow the rules figuring they'll never have a claim or if they do the insurance company won't be able to prove they were doing any "regular use".

I faced this issue and decided to insure with State Farm. They cost three times as much (for me) and only offer liability, but there are no "regular use" limitations. I don't know about your car, but if the MCO doesn't list the year replicated you might have troubles with insurance/titling/inspecting.

I'm in Florida also and my State Farm rep has quoted me $365.00 per year for liability and comprehensive per year. My car will be on the road in a few weeks, and I called her to be sure that I would have coverage. She has done "kit cars" before and had no problem with it. It may help that I have all of my insurance with State Farm, and my car is being professionally built. I think the key was an agent that was familiar with "kit cars" and knew how to handle the situation.
