Just my humble opinion here.
You said, "That's really not a good business decision...paying $9k for an engine and selling it for $4k-5k."
I think it is a worse business decision to put a 9K engine in the corner for X years wondering where and if you will ever get the money back out of it. It is MUCH easier to store the money than it is to store an engine.
I think it is much more important to have what you want and to be happy.
