Bill Gates came under well publicized scrutiny for unfair monopolistic business practices.
I appreciate the analogy.

KK, got yor point, you are right. Carroll is alive and well, and the world is watching. Still dislike the legal play he did, but he won in the 60s, he may win in 2004!

Durt,
I would bet you ERA will be there building at the same quality they have been building for the last 25 years and not miss a beat. They have what 11-13 months (sometimes as little as 8 month) wait?
As long as they do what they do, the loyal customers will buy from them as long as they want to build cars.
Their wait list may drop to 4-6 months, but you won't see the day they are building cars on speculation to sell them later to someone.

They are in a league by themselves. I have made it clear before, I for one will sell my current CSX and get an ERA one day. They are that good!

Maybe it is a good thing, the CAV cars will keep Shelby busy in Africa instead of in courts.

We can't have it both ways. We didn't like it when he was in court whistling Dixie. We all suggested they should get out there with a competitive car and compete in the market place. Now that he is doing that we don't like that either?

Your last paragraph described CAPITALISM perfectly.

As for putting his name on things others built. Yup, he does that to an extent.
So does Dior, Eddie Bauer, Ford with their Harley Davidson Trucks and many others. Nothing wrong with that.
'
I once saw Sears put their name on batteries and tires even.

Turk - Bottom line - before I go to bed - I know this topic has been done to death on this forum & I fully understand and respect the concept of competition in the marketplace.
I just don't have a lot of respect for a guy who once said to a friend that he was going to put his replica company out of business & shows up to his birthday party in a CAV GT-40.
I know he's the quintessence of a businessman.
Unfortunately, I have lost all affection for him. I trust he will survive without it.

Doug,

If you travel somewhere and see something you like ....then speak about how good the experience was ...what you have just expressed is simply an opinion...not a fact. Most of what you and Mike are expressing is ......in fact.....just your opinion.
All of the favorable corporate structure, product quality, customer support and public relations observations that you reported DO EXIST in other companies . So are the facts reported by Mike disputable?.....Nope . Most of what you guys are repeating are your opinions. The fact is .....page 10 so far should tell you there is big time customer loyalty by fellow Cobra enthusiasts for the products "they" own. Why ??
Because they chose that particular manufacturer for personal reasons based upon their own opinions and belief that investment is backed by corporate validity.

BTW...those photos are awesome !

Kris,
The pictures were nothing confidential, nor were they spy photos.

I got tired of people wanting to see pictures and in the absence of photos, speculating that the whole thing must be a scam or a bogus deposit taking operation and asked Brent Fenimore for the photos.
He obliged and sent them to me.

I guess he didn't know how to or didn't want to engage the opposition, sent the pictures to me and asked if I would post them.

I did.

We do it all the time.

Hey Turk,
Thanks for the pics. I was down there at the Las Vegas facility to see everyone there and their facility for the aluminum cars was impressive. I wonder when my car will arrive. I take it that that was csx 4750. Just a matter of time. Now all I have to do is get the motor researched, bought, and assembled. Do you guys have any leads or contacts for a good FE 550 hp streetable setup?

My choice is George Anderson. GESSFORD MACHINE in Hastings Nebraska. If you like, contact me off line, for a personal endorsement. If I do it in here it may sound too much like a commercial for George. He doesn't deserve it.

Then again, I am partial.
You will get varying opinions on good engine builders on this forum. 99.9% of them are good guys. Check around and call them all, for that kind of an expense.

If SAI turns out a SA product built as well as the Turks CSX then I wouldhave no qualms about buying one--Have no complaints about SPF

bvega,

I hope you love CSX 4751. I have little doubt that it will be a beautiful car.

However, I have to disagree with some of your statements, two of them in particular.

1) You said,

"steel tube frames are always stronger than square tube."

I assume you mean that ROUND tube frames are always stronger than square section frames. This is a major oversimplification. There are a large number of variables that determine the strength of a frame, and the round vs. square issue is just one of them. There is no doubt that some square tube frames are stronger than some round tube frames, and vice-versa.

2) You said,

"the truth everyone knows is that if all of you replica guys had the extra $25-30k to spend you would have chosen CSX. Now that they are close in price, there is know question."

Not everyone, and there is a question. If I want the "original" experience without buying an original '60s Cobra, IMO the only way to have that is to buy a Kirkham or an aluminum Shelby(which, of course, starts life as a Kirkham). These are the only choices that truly replicate the original in all respects, albeit with improved materials and some subtle "upgrades." IMO, once you have a 'glass body, you've strayed considerably from the original -- if you can change the skin, then you can change what's under the skin. So, for me, other top-level 'glass replicas (specifically, ERA and SPF) remain very much in the running with the CAV Shelby cars. The CSX # on a 'glass replica doesn't do much for me. I'll look at the entire package offered by Shelby, ERA and SPF and buy the car I think is the best car. If all else is equal, the CSX # would break a tie, but all else is not likely to be equal. I will say that Shelby's price reduction brings the CAV Shelby into the running -- previously, I would not have considered paying a premium for a 'glass Shelby. If I spend the extra $$$, it will be for an aluminum car.

I do find it rather disingenuous of Shelby to sue some replica manufacturers (SPF and FFR) while actively doing business with another (Kirkham). Now, with CAV, he is doing business with yet another replica manufacturer.
