i emailed the guy and he said any 90"wheelbase frame would work. im sure there would be modification needed, but there are a lot of reasonably priced u-pull it junk yards around for parts.

Phil,
I do not have the great looking gal in my photos but take a look at the Cobray-C3 at www.cobrasnvettes.com You use a Corvette chassis and do not need to straighten anything. You are already in the Chevy mode although you could put a Ford engine in my Kit it seems like a pretty direct path for you. |

We have been on the same page on a few threads!!! I did not think we were Oil and Water. My Kit is not for everybody and certianly not ONE for the built as close possible to original crowd. I do think a Toy should make the owner happy but not at the cost of anyone else. Cobray-C3 is a hoot to drive and fits in with all the other cars in our club and people just fine! |

Jeff, i really like the idea behind your kit. my worry is cost of a donor car. i havent been looking for corvettes, but i really dont remember seing any at a reasonable price. also, i couldnt find any pics of the kit before starting or pricing.

Not just any 90" wheelbase frame will do for a Cobra body, it has to be engineered for it. beware of people who give out such false information, as you'll end up paying as much as three times the price of a decent kit when you try to "piece it together".........

i understand where you are coming from. i plan to take a look in person at the body before dumping $4500 on it. im gonna see if i can get a hold of some people that have used the body for their own projects and really check it out |

Phil,
A donor vette say a 1976 should cost no more than $1500 or $2000. if premo body parts to sell. You want just the chassis and want to part out all the body and other non used Vette parts. If willing to deal with the calls of parting it out you should expect to net POSITIVE cash flow on the deal and get your chassis for free!
Bill is also right about not many chassis from donors not being a true bolt up if even do-able in stock form.

I would be EXTREMELY sekeptical of claims "It will fit on any 90" wheel base". While I'm SURE that is true, at what REAL cost and what REAL labor when the job is finally done!

well, i am giving up on the idea of getting the body for $4500 from the place near me. the guy is being an asshole(sorry if that not allowed) and wont answer any of my questions. he just keeps saying it will fit a 90" wheelbase. it looks like i am gonna go with jeff's kit when i get some money together. i might try to get a hold of a donor car 1st and get it all ready then get the body. i dont really have room in my garage for a frame and body unless the body is on the frame. i also like the idea of having corvette performance right out of the box. when did they start putting independant rear suspension on vettes? that is a must.

If you want Corvette suspension - Hunter is also a great way to go. $6390 for body and frame, $10k for a roller with the Vette suspension already installed. I guarantee Randy Hunter will answer any questions you have, unlike the guy at USbodies.

Whew,,,,,,I feel a little better now Phil. You still got a couple of options to consider. A glass body that will "fit" a 90" wheel base car (or a "truck",,,,,the horror!) is NOT one of them!
