isn' t CLUB COBRA listed in the SAAC registry as REAL ? it must be ! isn't it ? LOL...
wow, deja vu on this thread like all the others. same folks, same story, no one bends, no one changes their position on the subject.
Hey, i have an idea, lets all commonize the positions/replies/comments on these topics and number them.
that way someone can post " see #21" and someone responds with "#13" , a counter reply of #32 follows'...and on we go...saves time typing and reading.
bill, plastic something replica of some 60 something with briggs and stratton power and not for sale as don't know what category to list it under, tupperware maybe ? LOL

DING,DING,DING...
We have a winner !!!
Its funny that everyone has been babbling on for 6 pages now and Brent said it all in one sentence.
I have read an awful lot of Evans and Steves posts and they for the most part say the same thing in every one. A Cobra made by SAI is a real Shelby Cobra, Others are not. They say it every time and stick to their guns but for some reason alot of people here seem to infer that in between the lines somewhere there is a
"my car is better than your car...nyaa,nyaa!"
I have yet to see that statement actually written by either one.
The more people argue with them the more the rest of us have to read the same statement (which happens to be right) over and over.
who cares, I bet 90% of us have alot more fun in our replicas than they will ever have in their real ones!
Let it Die!
have a good one,
Dan

Bill,
It'll be like the old westerns... A "head em' off at the pass" would be a #1. "Draw Blackie" would be a #2. etc...
I was going to suggest this months ago in regards to Evan's responses... Lengthy and repetitive.... Much easier on everyone...
Adios Amigos er, that's a #12

Avanti 176: Well said. I am not inferring by my statements. I would suggest that its not that owners of CSX have a superiority complex. We don't. It would however appear that those inferring that we/I am saying my car is "better" which I am not saying at all have inferiority complexes as to what they own.
Just an observation.

The only Shelby Cobras I consider "REAL" are the ones built in the 60's. If your Cobra isn't worth $300,00+, it ain't real. I don't care if Shelby is building it and it is in a registry. It was built nearly 40 years later. I guess I could consider it a real continuation. Which to me is not much better than a real replica.
If I'd like to list a Ford Escort in the Mercedes section of Ebay, I can. If someone is bone-headed enough to bid higher on it b/c it's in the Mercedes section, then that's their problem. People are not placing it their for deception, if you'll notice on the homepage of Ebaymotors there is a shortcut to Shelby cars. There is no shortcut to replicas. My $40 may go farther with placing it there. It's just smart, not deceiving.

Yes, Evan ...You have finally summed it up perfectly,.......we all have an inferiority complex.............It IS a little labor intensive , but i now see it is a much more thoughtful disposition ,.....you are fine .........we all need therapy......I wonder if it would be covered by my HMO?

Evan: Admit it........you're just pissed because now you can buy a REAL Shelby for 39K, and you spent a TON more for a car you're afraid to drive and get a scratch on it!!! -Ha! I'll buy a 39K REAL Shelby and be in the same registry as you! -Heck, I may even put a CHEVY 427 in it and have THAT in the Shelby registry!
Yahooo!!! Put my car in the book next to Evan's!!!

I am a midstates owner and I know some owners of the( real thing)!!!and replicas and and it depends on what you can afford. It all depends on you. I enjoy driving my car and knowing
who started it all. I give the man the credit for a great car to drive.
We all enjoy it or we would not have spent the money to have one. enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!!!!!!

The fact in this matter is this; If Carroll Shelby had not created the Cobra in his own way, these discussions would not be taking place today. I took my first ride in a 289 / 260 Cobra in 66. I fell in love with the car instantly. It has taken me 36 years to have a Cobra built by Shelby American, and I would not have any other manufactured Cobra. That is not to say that all other Cobras are not worthy of the name. In fact, it is a amazing that the original Cobras are the most copied cars of all time. That is a huge compliment to Carroll Shelby. It was my choice to by my Cobra from the legend himself. Everyone needs to enjoy their cars no matter whom the manufacturer was. Cobras RULE!!!

Then if Shelby hadn't gotten back in the business of building replicas you're saying that you wouldn't have ever driven a Cobra manufactured by anyone else????
Terry,
Let me get this straight... I can go out and buy a Shelby Cobra from South Africa for $39,000 and it will be worth as much as Evan paid for his car????? That's great!!!! or wait a minute...
Maybe Evans car would only be worth what I paid for the SA car..
I'm so confused... Help me on this....
