Sidescreen?

Would anyone be able to give me the approx width of the sidescreen/window channel or base please?
I want this information, so I can make a jig for the three ferrules and line it up with the inside of the windscreen pillar at right offset, a hood might come later!

AJ, I think you are talking about the bottom channel of a side curtain. If so, that bottom channel is formed from a piece of sheet metal on a brake. It is made into a channel which "leans toward the inside of the car when installed. The channel with the material covering on it is almost exactly 1 inch. You must also know that the three pins which are brazed onto the bottm of the channel are offset toward the inside of the car. They are set all the way to within 1/16" of the inside edge of the channel. Also be aware that these dimensions are what fit an origional car and many replicas but not all! Most can mearly utilize varied pin spacings to achieve fit. Hope this helps and doesnt confuse.

Thank you for your informative reply, now I will see how I can juggle that into my car. I sort of feel that I should leave the ferrules out, as they are only for appearance at this stage.
On my first car I made hood bows, ferrules and sidescreens, what a job!

Kit,

Do you have the three pin spacing measurements, from edge of door opening at door handle end?
Just to give me an idea of an original, and ball park figure!

Also this may be a stupid question, but on an original I assume the sidescreen goes inside the windscreen pillar?

AJ, The approximate pin location is as follows:

1st pin: 1.187" from the rear edge of the bottom channel (which is approx even with the rear edge of the top of the door.

2nd pin: 10.312" from the center of the 1st pin or 11.5" from the rear edge.

3rd pin: 14" from the center of the 2nd pin or 25.5" from the rear edge.

As for the fit between the windshield post and the side curtain, the leading edge of the side curtain glass lines up with the rear facing edge of the windshield.
