Took a ride with my wife last weekend and stopped at a Starbucks after having a somewhat fast ride through a nearby rural valley. I was approached by a county police officer offering to trade vehicles with me. I told him I could have some fun in his cruiser and he replied that it wouldn't be as much fun as he could have in my Cobra. Another officer pulled up and both were admiring my ride and asking questions etc. I told the first officer to give me a call when he was off duty and I'd give him a ride. He wrote my name and number on the back of his card and gave me one of his. He remarked that this card might be a "get out of a ticket pass" if used discretely. I thanked him and he asked where we'd been riding. I told him and said there are a couple of good Cobra roads in the valley at which point he said that now would be a good time to run them again since no one (ie he and his partner) would be there to notice. I've heard of instances where police officers will stop a Cobra only to see it. That has never happened to me but this visit will live in my memory for quite a while.

This is not recognition lately, but within 10 minutes of driving my car for the first time I was at an intersection and a young lad of another race in a Escalade stuck his upper body out of the window and called me a 'Rich Bastard'. Comments from then on have been of admiration. Although I get tired of people asking if it is a 'real one'.

That's right - I also hate those white kids

Some will hate "us" for the noise and fuel consumption - most will admire the fantastic Icon.

Default Latest....

Had a garage sale this past weekend. A couple came up and started a conversation. The fellow said he and his wife have been married for 62 years. Then he saw the Cobra and said "that is the most gorgeous thing ever seen". His wife gave him an odd look. I hope this didn't start something.

Default I was on the negative side of the comment

While visiting Unique Motorcars, Gadsden AL, where I ended up buying my Cobra 427 S/C, during their 2010 homecoming, I was fortunate enough to be around ~40 Unique Cobra 427s and FIAs. The next day, Sat, was an organized drive through the north AL hills to Barber Intl. Speedway museum. And since I signed my purchase order for my Cobra the day before,,,,, I was invited to drive along, even though I didn’t have a Cobra to drive. So I drove my Porsche RS60 Spyder. It was spectacular driving in a ~40 Cobra parade. The cars strung out at least a ¼ mile. People were on their front porches, stopped their lawn movers, standing in front of small shops and just waving with smiles from ear to ear. Now a Porsche is no “cheesy” car, but I guess when compared to a Cobra…. That’s another story? While the Cobra caravan was slowing down to make a right turn at an intersection and people alongside the road watching…. One group of guys said within ear shot of my wife and I…. What the f*** is that car doing there? That kind of said it all. Next year’s homecoming, I’ll have my own Cobra and can start hearing some of the positive comments mentioned throughout this thread.
