Default Rate my new dyno sheet!

This is a 351W (not stroked) built by Eric at Performance Engineering in Ross, Ohio (http://www.perfeng.cc). .544 lift cam, runs on pump gas (93 preferably).

The results? 485 HP, 445 lb-ft! Is that insane for a non-stroked 351W or what??

Default Sheet

I would like to see the data sheet. From what I can see there is a real problem. According to my understanding, Horsepower and Torque are suppossed to be equal at 5250 RPM's no matter what. I would ask your builder why yours is at less....

Steve, nice observation. I did some research and found out that since the torque and hp are being graphed on different scales their point of intersection is arbitrary.

You had me worried though *whew*.

Steve,

I do, but it's on another computer.

Here's the pertinent data:

5200 RPM HP = 438.8 TORQUE = 443.7 (Torque is Higher)
5300 RPM HP = 445.9 TORQUE = 442.2 (HP is Higher)

Thus the two intersect somewhere in between - you guessed it, at 5250 RPM.

The reason the above dyno does not show the intersection at 5250 is a result of different scales being used for torque and HP - the two vertical axis do not represent the same number scales. Due to that difference the HP and torque curves can't be compared on a visual basis. As to why one wouldn't always use the same scale, I couldn't say.

http://www.perfeng.cc/engines.html

That is the link to all of Eric's engines. This is a 351 with .544 cams - but notice it get's as much HP as the 418 stroker! (Although not nearly as much torque). It's possible the high HP numbers are a result of something Eric did to the engine to allow it to rev a bit higher than normal. I'll have to ask.
