Turkeypan Questions

Have a 351 Victor intake with Holley 950 HP series carbuetor, also MSD billet distributor with the big cap on it. Will the turkey pans that Finish Line sells work with that combo? Their measurements in the catalog doesn't seem like there will be enough room between carb and distributor. Will the pan fit over or work with the CSI billet throttle cable bracket? Thanks for any input.

In my view, any filter that would fit in the turkey pan is too small for proper air flow. Look at the height and dia of the 358 in2 NASCAR air filter as your guide. Even a street motor should be at least 2 inches tall and large dia or 3 inches tall and medium diameter.

Of course, you can use it, but you will start to drop hp above 3500-4000 rpm or so. And unless you create a proper seal around the pan top lid, it won't ensure cooler and smoother air, anyway, filters or not.

But, it looks cool I'll admit.

Seems to me the dimensions are listed on the site, you may end up having to messure. If you want it, you may have to go to a smaller cap set up. I think you can just change this out? It is common to have to cut the pan here or there to accomidate linkage.

On the air cleaner front, read:

I am taking off my monster K&N assembly and going to the pan and stellings/hellings cleaner. Most of the time I will stack to get the flow I want covered with a perferated aluminum for appearence sake. You could perhaps go to the K&N 9" xtream assembly with a 5" filter which is 863 CFM but either way, the look may cost a couple of ponies!

No definiative answer...... but then again, how often is there one!

The turkey pan would have to be modified for clearance around the dist cap on a 302 (not sure if a 351 has the same distance to carb) the csi throttle bracket will also require some work on both the turkey pan and bracket but it will work. On a 351 with a small dia MSD dist, the turkey pan does not require any cutting!

Place cooking oil at the bottom, insert Turkey, pre-heat and set oven to 375 degrees for six hours.

Hey guys , thanks for all the info. Probably will go another route, possibly the oval Cobra air cleaner set-up. There is not much modifying there. Decooney, one more question, how long does it take to cook a "coon" in a Cobra turkey pan?
