Steve,
Me, thinned skin, hardly...As for the sale, if you found someone who wants it enough to pay such a premium, congratulations....Just not my cup of tea (ok, coffee)..........I can remember the hype of the 1993 Cobra "R", then the 1994 Cobra pace Car convertibles when I purchased all of mine..........

$65K over is nothing compared to the Ferrari Enzo which had a $695K MSRP. The asking price is around $1.25M or $555K over which is about 80% above MSRP. Only 349 Enzos were produced and they were all spoken for before any were produced. At $65K over, that's around 46% above the MSRP and with 3000 scheduled, it makes sense. I predict the Ford GT's average value to stay around $180K for a along time.

I know of at least one guy who has put down a six figure deposit already on a GT and one who is trying to get "on a list" for one,he has had no luck as the dealers he has talked to will not com
mit, they are holding out to see what the market does....Have also heard the first year production is pretty much all spoken for right now.....
I personally think that most if not all dealers will get whatever they want for these cars, the people who can afford them and want them and there are a lot of these people around have the money to make sure they get one at whatever price is needed to get one....I also think with the limited production number, you will not see any sell for MSRP,now or in the near future....I think they will only appreciate in value, but that is just my opinion....
And no I can not afford one but would love to be able to....Maybe I could do like Matt Kenseth and win the NASCAR championship in a Ford and get one free!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Anybody out there want to sponsor me in NASCAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Back in the '70s a local Honda dealer was charging $2,000 over list for Civics due to the gas crunch. They called it "dealer prep".
Needless to say I didn't buy but there were people lining up behind me to gladly get rid of their hard earned cash!!

Back in the 70's I purchased a brand new Honda Accord. There was a waiting list and the dealers were asking $500 to a $1000 over MSRP. Luckily someone's deal fell through and I was able to snatch one up for $3,600. 86K miles and six years later, I sold it for $3,200. Not a bad depreciation factor.
