Default New Ford Gt For Sale

I have a position available to receive one of the first runs of the new FORD GT for the low low price of only $65,000 over sticker.

Yes it's nuts but, I the first ones are commanding much higher than this from what I hear.

If any of you aggressive well heeled have any interest, please send a private e-mail.

I go back to the first Vipers. I was one of the lucky ones that had a contract and bought the car at the $52,500 sticker price. In those years people didn't know to charge over on a contract.
2 months after I got the car, I was offered $97,500 from a guy in a parking lot so the car left my garage for a big profit. Go figure and that car was junk. At least the GT will probably be a great car.

Thanks but no thanks. I'll pass. I'll wait until the nuttiness dies down. $65K over sticker is crazy. No way, not from me.

I'll bet in a year or two you will be able to buy one for sticker. Maybe then I'll sell the Cobra and buy one. Maybe.

I went into a Ford dealer looking at the new T-Bird when it first came out. I asked how much and the dealer said $20,000 over cost. I never responded and never looked back. They lost that sale and a customer. That attitude I am sure did not help sales. I know this case is a little differant but I can't see paying over cost on any new vehicle. No offense Steve!

Sal: Funny you mention that. A good friend of mine looked at the new T Bird when they were just coming out at a dealer. The sales guy got very upset when my friend looked to open the door of the car on the showroom floor. They had a "don't touch" attitude. They wanted over sticker.

My friend said when they are offering discounts on the car to call him and left.

Now you see them in Target and A&P parking lots surrounded by shopping carts.

BMW dealers had the same attitude with the Z8.

No car is worth $65K over sticker in my view.

No offense taken. I myself would not pay over but, there are those that will. With the GT, the receiving dealership had to be appointed to get one of the early cars so these are apparently hard to come by.

You could use the Cobra as the 65K over...

The Free Enterprise system is a wonderful thing. I salute people who ask $20K over sticker for a Thunderbird or $65K over sticker for a GT. The fact that people are actually willing to pay that type of premium is all the justification the sellers need. It's nothing more complicated than supply and demand. Harley Dealers have been charging premiums on hot products for years. Personally, I would never pay a nickel over sticker. But, obviously, some people are willing and able to pay whatever the market will bear. I look forward to avoiding those dealers like the plague when the market cools off, and buying used vehicles from the early adopters, once they're on to the next hot toy, at a greatly reduced cost.

65K WILL PUT ME IN A COBRA & A COUPE AND STILL HAVE ENOUGH TO THROW AT A VACATION FOR THE FAMILY. PLUS THE KITS ARE EASIER TO SOURCE FOR PARTS ( NOT TO MENTION CHEAPER). STILL, IF YOU'VE GOT THE STICKER PRICE TO BLOW, IT WOULD MAKE SENSE THAT YOU'VE GOT MORE.

Cool Apples & Oranges!!! (T-bird & FORD GT)

Not to argue, but I think paying 20K over for a T-bird is totally different then paying 65K over for a Ford GT... Personally, I waited until 2003 to buy my 'Bird and got it as a fleet vehicle at under dealer cost... That being said, I don't think any dealer is going to sell the GT at MSRP or less... Both are limited production vehicles, but the 'Bird doesn't have the history of the GT...

I believe that the Ford GT will actually appreciate in value over time, but it's against my principles to pay over MSRP for any vehicle... I guess I'll have to live with my ERA GT-40 for a long time.... Which, BTW isn't all bad...

FYI, Galpin Ford, (the world's largest volume Ford dealer) in the San Fernando Valley is only getting 5 GT's... I realize factors other than volume sales come into play for allocations but still....

And finally, good luck, Steve...

There is currently a $6K rebate on the TBird and there are 2003 models still remaining that are moving like molasses in January. This only 2 years after the vehicle was introduced.

The GT might indeed appreciate over time, but I wouldn't gamble $65K on it.

Ford plans to make a total of approximately 3,000 GTs over the next 3 years. Probably 800 will be delivered this calendar year. I'll bet that by the start of 2005, new GTs will be readily available at sticker or less.

Cool SM45

I agree with you about the 65k... But unless I miss my guess, I don't think you will see any going out at MSRP or less.... But, I hope you are right... My only hope is that Ford will make it a fleet vehicle...

Cheers,

There is a guy on the deep south local club site that has a slot. He does not want the car and the price is 50k over.

not all car dealers are p@#$%s, chris and I went up to the Charlotte Porsche dealer this past sat, him in his Boxster, me in my SPF, we got out and talked with the service manager, who has befriended Chris, and has helped him out. He invited us back into the show room, and there sat a sold yellow Gallardo. It was roped off. He immediatly dropped the rope for us, and invited us to have a good look at it, up close and personal. So we did. It is stunning.

So we complemented his dealership, and thanked him, and left in a bit. But we were welcome to touch and look it all over.

Are they planning to run these cars in greater #'s after the first production run? If so I wouldn't bet on them gaining much value.

Question Ford GT pricing

I can't believe you all are comparing the Ford GT and pricing with the T-bird or the Viper. The T-Bird was dead on delivery-->one ugly a*s car IMO. The T-Bird never had the race history. The Viper may have relatively low production numbers but c'mon...the GT will probably, in all liklihood, be short lived in terms of pure numbers produced. FoMoCo's way of stealing the thunder from the C6 and C6 vert. In my mind, the extra $$$ are justifiable (if I had it) as the car seems certain to appreciate with its history. ---> notice the pricing on original GT350's and production numbers. they have a relative ceiling but look at what Ted Waitt paid for a non-original Gt500. 30years from now I would assume you get a healthy return. Unless its valuable at purchase (collectible) then its a crap shoot no matter...I plan to drive it and dog it when I have the fortunate opp. for a SPF, ERA etc.

regards,
jon

Take the $65k "buyers privilege", walk into any Superformance dealer, pick out your new GT-40, and get $15k change.

You will see some of the first GT's at auctions, public (e-bay) and dealer only. They will cross the block at 50 to 100% over MSRP. These will command the highest prices. This is the cost of "1st to have one, at any cost". After about 1000 are produced you will see a lot (100+) for sale in Autoweek Dupont reg. Hemmings etc. for 1/2 of original over-MSRP cost. E-bay will have at least 15 to 20 in any given week. They will close, sold or unsold at 10k to 15k above MSRP. After 2000 are sold used low mileage units will sell for just under MSRP, new (MSO) will be sticker price.

Regards, Bret.
