Default Meeting Place for Sunday

I just spoke with the manager of Joseph's Gulf Coast Grille in Pearland. He said it would be no problem for us to use his parking lot for a staging area on Sunday afternoon. They only serve a brunch on Sunday from 11 to 3, but I told him it is likely that we won't be eating there.

I am told that it is a relatively new restaurant with a big, paved lot. He asked only that we park off to the side, instead of right in front of the restaurant.

Address is:

Joseph's Gulf Coast Grille
6425 W Broadway (FM518)
Pearland Texas 77581

Sound OK?

BTW - Who's in charge of weather?

I'll also post this on HoustonCC.

Sorry that I haven't check in before now but something called work has taken my time. But leave it to the cobra buds to take the ball and run with it I had hoped to have talked with Kenny's wife or Mom by now Will make the time this evening or sooner.

Ok, it's all set. Kenny and Katie are now in Houston. Just got off of the phone with Kenny's mother and here is the plan:

We will gather at Joseph's at 2pm.
We will then drive as a group to Kenny's sister's house in Pearland, arrive 2:30pm. I will have the directions.
Then it is cruising time.
All are welcome!

If it rains, then we will postpone until the next weekend.

Thanks,
Kelly

Okay, guys, things "seem" to be working out for me this weekend...looks like I will get the car back on the road Friday night or Saturday and my prior plans for the weekend seem to have fallen through.
So, the weather forcast right now is for 60% on Saturday, 10% on Sunday. Kelly, do you want to contact Kenny and Katie and see if Sunday will work? Will Sunday work for everyone?

That's great news on the car!

I have planned on calling Kenny this afternoon. Been watching the weather forcasts and Sunday looks good. Will make the call and then post here and on our Houston Yahoo club.

OK, just got off of the phone with Kenny's mother and we are a go for Sunday. We will meet at Joseph's 2pm, in Pearland and then cruise over to Kenny's sister's house. If anyone has any questions, post here or email me.

Same plan as last Sunday. We meet at 2:00 at Joseph's and then go to Kenny's sister. We are relying on Kelly to get us there. I'm not worried ... are you?

I think the official headcount thus far is 5. Confirmed attendees are:

Kelly M.
David S.
Jim D.
Ken S. (probably... if Ken can insert tab A into slot B on his car!)
Rick H.

Confirmed no shows are:
Dennis M.
Frank H.

Anyone else?

Weather is sounding good!

Georgiasnake, I want to thank you for getting the ball rolling on this deal. I think Kenny and his family enjoyed the rides, but all the Cobra drivers enjoyed themselves just as much. Kenny seems to be a tough guy, but with a good outlook, I think he'll make it in life just fine, and has the support of a loving and caring family to help him. God bless all of them. We should do more of these type things all across America. Our Vets (and don't forget their families) do deserve it!

Thanks to you guys, my first mission is accomplished. I'm glad the weather finally moved over here, we needed the rain and Kenny needed the ride.

David you are right we need to do this for more people, we have a great tool to bring a little joy to many. I hope somebody got some pictures to post

Randy,

Wanted to let you know that we had a great time yesterday with Kenny and the whole family!

Realized something also. Kenny's mother said something to me that really got me thinking, she said, "Kenny is really taking this well, he is laughing and joking, and I'm crying.".................

We had been so wound up with helping Kenny that no thought had gone into the needs of the family. This is as hard on the family as it is on Kenny. Food for thought.

Anyway, took Kenny, his wife, sister and brother-in-law for a good hour long cruise. The weather was great and we didn't misbehave too much Did I say that we had a great time

When we returned more of the family had shown up and we were able to take Mom, Dad, In-laws and Grannie for rides

Oh, and what really made it great is that they all thought that we had Cobra Mustangs! What a shock they got when we came rumbling into the neighborhood

Many thanks also to the Houston bunch that showed up to help with the cruise. We had 7 cars and and 10 wonderful cobra nuts particapating. Each and every one has special and unique gifts that makes them special. I have to acknowledge one in particular.

As soon as we had shut the cars down, he was at Kenny's side talking with him, making phyical contact and befriending Kenny. He took Kenny to each car, letting him feel them and explained in detail about the cars. And after that, he never left Kenny's side.
Found out later that this gentleman had Polio as a teen and had lost his sight for a while. Luckily, his sight returned. But he knew first hand what it was like to be blind. Touches the heart.........

We took plenty of pics and will get them posted as soon as we can. As luck would have it, my computer at home became infected with a virus Saturday I'm working on getting that resolved and then will post.

Thanks for bringing this opportunity to us. I don't know who got more out of this, us or them.
Kelly
