I had knots in my stomach until I read the last line. It is good to read a story about something to be thankful for. I worry about my boys more than my daughter because they fear nothing. I worry about my kids getting to close to the road and something happening to them.
You have one lucky nephew there David.

David,
As a trauma surgeon I know how you feel. Some call it luck, I call it the hand of God.

Amazing, and wish it happened more often. Here, same situation, but the girl died.
In my youth, on a hay ride, on a dirt road (probably the saver), a guy fell off the rack, landed under the wheels of the loaded wagon, which rolled over his chest. He rolled out before the second set of wheels reached him, we pulled him back on, none the worse for the experience. I don't know what makes God choose.
Be happy. There is certainly a reason.

Unbelievable event – can’t adequately express how glad I am that it turned out so well – what a scare that must have been.

Wow, glad to hear your nephew is OK. Kids do have a wonderful way of not getting hurt and bouncing back fast. Have him pick out Lotto numbers quick.
I believe in miracles too.

Thanks for all of your kind words. My nephew is none the worse for the wear, except he has tire marks on his skin...kinda creepy.
Makes me think of all of the times in life I have cheated the Grim Reaper. I imagine most of us have. It is a wonder any of us ever grow up for all the stupid things we do when we are young. (Not saying my nephew was at fault here, just commenting on growing up and wondering how ANY of us do it in one piece).
Don't know about the helment. I never asked. I guess I should. I have had a helment save my life...twice.
I do believe in miracles.
