Before California recently added the 1963-1969 yellow on black plates to the "year of manufacture" program, you couldn't retrofit the classic 60's style plates onto a vehicle. So one trick was to get one of the CA special plates that has a logo, and let CA assign a letter/number sequence to you, don't ask for a vanity plate, and CA would assign 3 letters followed by 3 numbers, just like what was used in the 60's. Then, quite some time ago, CA allowed the use of reproduction plates, so I had the sequence from my UCLA plates made with the 60's style dies. Now that I recently bought a CSX4000 car, I will register it with the UCLA plates, but run the yellow on black plates on the car. Apologies for the shadows in the picture.

I could switch to FSTRNU or WNTRSKS if I wanna go through the hassle. The winter reference comes from being in the snowiest city in America.
I think I will keep it as is for a bit. |
