I am 19.

my history:
became very interested cars when i turned 16 and bought a used Mustang V6. I found mustangworld.com (where i still spend the vast majority of my time) just before buying the car, and the website has turned my interest into full blown obsession.

A few months after I turned 17, we traded in my V6 for a 1998 GT.
This december, we found a 1964 1/2 D Code mustang to take on as a restoration project. We actually have not really started on it yet (other than tearing out most of the interior), as we have another couple of weeks until our extra garage is finished and we can move the car in and strip it down to the frame. Due to the uniqueness of quite a few things on the car, we have decided to make it a show only car, which means that we cannot go really just go drive it whenever we want. We have been looking for something else to restore as a fun car (the two going choices were another mustang convertable or a vette), but i finally got up the nerve to ask my father about us actually building a Cobra, what I have always considered the car of cars. To my amazement, he did not reject this idea.

So, now i am here looking for all the info i can find before we tackle this.

Im 17, and I've been around Race cars since I was about 4 years old. My Uncle was a formula 3000 driver, now a GTO Driver and my Dad runs a tuning company, I've always loved cars and particulaly muscle cars, no turbos or nitrous just raw (evil) power! My Dad has had two Cobra's one an Original, which he sold before I could appreciate it, and the other a replica. Which isnt a Cobra for me as the interior is very modern and it doesnt suit. I can't wait till I can start getting my hand's dirty and burning my legs on one of my own!!

I'm 22. I want one in my garage by the time I'm 24. It will happen! I was hooked after my friend took me on a ride in his dads GN V6 powered EM. I also want to thank all of the members...I have learned so much just by doing searches! The wealth of knowledge is amazing. I can't wait to get my cobra and help others fulfill their dream.

well if this was a contest i would win j/j but anywayz i am 16 and have loved shelby cobra daytona coupes every since i first saw one which was when i was prolly 11-12.

I to am 40, but have had my car for 4 years. There is no second childhood if you don't outgrow the first one!!!!!

I'm 32 and just beginning the assembly of my Classic Roadsters cobra. I started with the CR Healey replica as a compromise to my wife (roll-up windows, etc.) but made the correct executive decision in the end.

I've been accumulating parts for about a year and will finally start on turning my frame into a roller this week. Part of my motivation to complete my car is that no-one, not my family, my friends or coworkers, thinks I will actually complete the project. Nothing like galvanizing my spirit!

My build is somewhat politically incorrect in that I'm dropping in a Corvette L98 instead of a Ford. I'm not motivated by any particular loyalty one way or the other but happened to have easy access to this engine. And nay sayers be damned because when I finally rumble down the road the gawkers aint gonna care!!

I have been interested in building a cobra for 15 years. I finally started my build. I was curious who has the most miles on their cobra. I'm 36.

Well,

I'm 32 years young and have been making Fords go fast since I was about 15 or so. I've always enjoyed fast street cars and drag racing but I've always hated fighting Ford factory problems with weight, clearance, etc. Dammit - it needs to be light, have basic functionality, and go like hell! Hard to do with anything Ford has made in the last 25 years.u

Thus, I've always wanted to build a Cobra or GT40. This forum has been a great resource and I hope will continue to be so,

No mid-life crisis, just finally able to afford doing it right. I feel better about my "project" if I know I my family's needs are already met and I am using extra cash. I am 41.

I'm 56 y/o, with the kids grown and a little money to burn. I lived the time of the first Cobras. Saw my first one while at the Univ. of Md. Couldn't afford one then and bought a 65 Malibu SS. loved that car, but always remembered the Cobra. Just bought a 65 Cobra replica with a 302 beefed up. I'm in love again. I call it a passion, not crisis.

I first posted this when I was 35. Now I am 36. Have ordered a car and will be 37 when it gets delivered. It is my intention to have it on the road prior to turning 38.

I am 39 and have had several different cars over the years, Camaros, Vettes and even a couple RX-7 turbos. Nothing has the stare effect of the Cobra though. I was looking for the perfect mid-life car and stumbled across an ad for a FFR reproduction Cobra. Seems the guy had just had it built for him and then fell into divorce. I bought it with 958 miles on it. Still getting a feel for her and breaking in the fresh '93 302, BUT IT HAS BEEN GREAT SO FAR. I got to a point where I was financially secure and thought "why leave all this money to my kid??" I'll have some fun and leave him a slightly used Cobra to remember me by. Money comes and goes but he will only need a few dollars to fill up the tank and enjoy a sunny day.

I am 17 years old and have been a cobra fan since the age of 10. I have been saving money slowly to purchase a replica, but with the on set of other events (i.e. purchasing a '66 mustang coupe) and the restoration have slowly been depleting my funds. I am aiming to have enought money to pay for half and take out a loan for the other half of the price.

I'll be 53 in Nov. Saw and fell in love with a Cobra(289, blue/white stripes) the first time I saw one on Colfax Ave. in Denver the summer of'66, and have wanted one ever since. Owned Vettes,Turbo Z's, etc. but never anything close to the mystique and brute hi-performance and down right appeal of the Cobra.
So now after all these years I'm shopping around for one. Spent a couple years cruising our sailboat and now the wife wants a more land based hobby

I put 4 two barrels on my 40 ford in my parents garage 45 years ago. I thought I was done until my son got me excited about building a ff5 kit.
My son (37 years old) and myself(63 years old) are both building ff5 kits now.
I hope I will appreciate a lumpy idle until I die.
