When I was 9 years old and saw my very first Cobra, I told my Dad that I would have one. It was always 'my goal'. Not just a dream. Well, Dad passed away and left me with just enough money to do about 2/3rds of it. I did finally accomplish my goal at 51. My wife is 39. Thanks Dad. Miss ya - wish he could have seen it.

I just got mine, SPF 2626 at the age of 38. I wanted it since I was 10, but actively started researching for the past 7 years. I consciously did not buy many cars (vette's, mustangs, etc.) that I could have on my saving quest to the cobra.

Glad I did, there is Nothing like a cobra! Nothing.....

Looks like Chris and I are on the same path...I am 38 and recently purchased SPF 2632. Have had no other "fun" cars in my past...this is the first and hope to have it a long, long time.

Chris - as a side note...where did you get your "Y" shoulder harnesses from?

I started building my Cobra when I was 43. I regret building other cars for my "mates" ( I don't see them much) I should have built my car earlier but they weren't available then. Sooo too bad **** happens and you make it right ! I like to emphasize my "kit" isn't like a model car. I have built many parts and modified the chassis extensively. My car is not a bolt together "job"

Candyman, I know the feeling!

Be advised, wear the heaviest weather gear you own and gloves.

"Chill factor," a weather term, did not come home to me until I took Gunrack out at 50 degress on the highway!

I have a heater, but it is a cruel joke without a top.

It blows down on my passenger's knees.

Was 35 when I bought my kit in 1985 - took 6 years to finish it - mainly due to financial constraints - still have it. It's growing old with me.

I'm 67 years young, have non-hogekins lymphoma which is almost gone now , have uncontrolled diabetes and having gastric bypass surgery in a few weeks so that I can lose 100 pounds and not have any of these ills any longer...I've always been into sports cars owning 4 Corvettes many years ago and all new too...Had an FFR roadster in 2000thru 2005 raced it and then sold it and bought a partially done FFR coupe at the end of 2005 ...It's my pride and joy infact Bob Bondurant had it on his track about 5 months ago and loved it so much that the car is going to be shown at his 40 anniversary party on the 14th of this month...I'm extremely proud that Bob would honor me and my Daytona in that way..I truly love my FFR coupe and all of the fine people that I've met over the years that have either been into racing or just showing cars....Dave

Has anyone run the numbers to get the average age?

Dan,

I doubt it. When they saw my age they didn't want to know. My age would make the average more than most people are old now. Being ancient has some privileges.

Dave- Bob Bondurant is still kickin' a$$???

I took his course in 1978, mandatory at that time for my SCCA go-ahead.

Very spendy for a dumb-shi+ kid in his 20's.

Get well, my Brudda, my prayers are with you.
