Was 44 yrs old when wanting a V8 motorcycle at the time the kit was $10k thought that was a little too much,so bought my Cobra 1993.Lost my career job the next year, finished the car the year after that and still anxious every time we are ready for a ride.Did sell our Harley after buying the kit, once the car was finished got back into Harleys but groundup built them with big inch motors and the drivetrains to support them.

I'm 64. Saw my first Cobra at S&C Ford in San Francisco 1965. Love at first sight. Just as beautiful in 2012 as it was in 65.

Wanted one for over 40+ years, lookd at kits as my kids grew up but diden't swing it until I got rid of the ball and chain in 07. I will be 68 this year, drive ever chance I get, even all winter as long as the roads are clear in MD

Scott
I just turned 60 early this month. I took four years building my dream car and plan on being at the LCS this year. Used to have a old Trans Am that I restored and sold it. I was trying to make up my mind on what to build next. After being married for 36 years my wife totally shocked me by saying she would like a Cobra race car. She didn't have to say it twice.

53 years old. My slot car set when I was 10 had a Cobra and a Cheetah car. Sparked the interest. Discovered the replicar industry in 1998 while my son was in high school. We brought home a beautiful Unique last night. Dream come true. He had to drive me all around though. Still recovereing from broken hip and pelvis. Motorcycles are GONE. He kept saying on the way home, "Everybody has a Harley, not everyone has a Cobra!"

I started building my car at age 59 and finished the following year. I'm currently 68 but my average age is 34.4.

44, Paid off the mortgage Last year. no room at home to build a Cobra so two months ago I put down a deposit on a small workshop.
The workshop should be finished by mid 2013, then the fun will begin………..

I'm 13 years older than when this thread was started. I can't remember if I responded to it previously - probably have but I'm 61-1/2 now, and although physically fit I can't help wondering if I will be able to get into the thing by the time I have it running.

I am surprised by the age profile here, as i thought most would be in the late 30s-50s. Im mindful to try a poll in the UK and see what happens.

Come on, Dan - you're almost there...and driving it will make you young again!

I'm 58 and hoping to have my car by the end of the month. Will take me a while to get it on the road, but that's ok.

Regards,

Kevin

Kevin, I am getting closer - should be able to fire up the motor in a month or so. I was also 58 when I took delivery of mine. It is kind of like a physical fitness program. Getting up and down off of a creeper or the floor 30 or 40 times some days has to be good for something.

Dan

I'm 33. Bought our first Cobra project last summer as an early 10 year wedding anniversary gift to each other. The car will be my wife's (also 33) and has been her dream car for over 10 years. We even had a die cast Cobra model with a "just married" sign on back under our wedding cake (her idea...not mine...oh yeah, she's a keeper). With any luck the car will be at least drivable by the end of this summer for our actual 10 year anniversary.

I am 62. I have been building my Cobra since 2007. The end is insight. The car will be used for touring North America, with my wife of 41 years.
