I'm 44, starting building the car when I was 34 
Got about 85% done in the first 9 months but we started a similtaneous project around the same time. Our daughter is now 8 1/2. Of course I've had other car diversions and pacifiers (like the 2 wheeled version of the Cobra, the Yamaha V-max) over the years, and I'm mainly a MoPar guy and I still play with them some too. Sure, I would have loved to finish the car much sooner but I really don't have any regrets...let's just say I'm making up for lost time on every sunny afternoon!
