I have been on this forum for quite awhile now, other forums too. I have found that the check writers, for the most part, usually do not hold onto their cars as long as builders. Many of the check writers take their cars to neighborhood mechanics. They don't even change the oil! You'd think they would take the time to maybe learn something new. Buy some tools!
A builder is someone who has taken the time, patience, money and love and put together their 'unique' car.

pay attention to the little smiley faces in the post. Sarcasm my friend, it does not matter if it is built or bought.

Absolutely.....I couldn't put it better myself!
I take mine regularly to the local cruise and have been "blanked" several times by other Cobra drivers. My Cobra is a little rough around the edges, not even sprayed yet, but I am proud of it and there is not a single component I don't know because I built the whole thing myself. On those occasions I spend my time talking with the Mustang Camaro and Cuda guys who appreciate what its like to have grease under your fingernails

I think this event has less to do with check writers vs builders and more to do with a$$holes vs good guys.
I have several friends that fall in the check writing group and they are not only good guys but very knowledgeable car guys.
Some people think their time is far too valuable a commodity to spend it doing something they are not skilled at.
Throw in the fact that we are talking about a fairly high performance car that requires some expertise to build a safe dependable ride.

Could not agree more. This thread is not about lumping income levels into one group.
Its about snobbery and elitist attitudes through percieved forms of entitlement because one guys car may or may not carry more dollar value than another's, or his supposed financial abilities or standings.
Its about a group of jerks that couldn't see the light of day (an original Cobra) because their head was buried too far up their backside (their own insecure egos). They displayed an inability to be polite, friendly, or cordial. Shallow people, we all know a few.
Its about the kind of person who gains personal satisfaction through scorn and critical attitude toward another. Sadly this attitude makes them feel better about themselves and because they lack that persons qualities, they feel threatened by them.
Bill made the right move, drive away.
I don't have any friends like those guys, please explain to me why anyone would want to hang and drive with them?

It is just common courtesy to be polite to someone. These guys are A-HOLES
PERIOD
To come over and gang up on someone they don't know and rip apart his car is messed up.( even if it was a POS) They didn't even have the manners to apologize for being rude after the fact or even wave.
H2Oman and I saw the most awful one off Cobra at a local car show and we were as polite as can be to the guy. He is very proud of the car and we were impressed buy his enthusiasm and would want to help him find vendor he is looking for or even cruise with him.
But aholes with attitudes can go intercourse themselves.
You have a stronger will than me Bill to deal with pricks like that. I hope to learn from your example.
