I paid $100 for mine used about two years ago. Took it off because I needed a bigger air cleaner when racing. May put it back on for town cruises, it looks cool.

Indeed it does look cool. Now, if you did this, switching it out would be a piece of cake. Not to mention making the carb adjustment easier. I don't get the credit for this fabrication, Bob P. did it for me last year.

The Terry Body Springs hold the Turkey Pan down to the base. You could probably run without them, but the pan might then rattle on top of the base. The TB springs eliminate that possibility. Here's a better shot of them, you can see that I have them safety wired together just in case one of them vibrates loose, which has yet to happen.

Good idea with the safty wire. How long does it take to remove the pan with this set-up? I usually keep my pan off for everyday driving (I believe it breathes better that way) but I like to put it on for shows. -It's just such a pain in the a$$!

It takes less than a minute. You just pull the springs off with your fingers and then lift the pan right off (it requires a little maneuvering, but not much). No need to remove the air cleaner, or anything else for that matter. I tune my carb with a vacuum gauge. I honestly don't know how I would get the hose on the base of my Holley with my fat stubby fingers if the Turkey Pan was on there. Being able to pull it off makes a huge difference when working on the carb. |

Geez, was I way off. I always thought that the turkey pan was sandwiched between the carb and the manifold, much like a plenum spacer would be.

A normal one is; my custom fabricated two-piece Turkey Pan was specifically designed to be easily removable. |
