I've read this one before last year as well. The problem I see is this... the initial stopage of buying their goods won't directly affect them, that's why the plan calls for a much longer amount of time. So what are you doing in the process? Well, drive 10 miles and count how many gas stations are selling those products. Because they'll all be out of business. So now those who are trying to 'stick it to the man,' have instead stuck it to themselves.
The only real way is to cut back totally. If you need something, make one trip and do multiple errands at once rather than multiple trips. Drive cars that get better mpg! While you're on that drive to see how many stations htere are within 10 miles, count how many big suvs and trucks you see with 1 person in them. I'm talking Expeditons, excursions, F series pickups, suburbans, tahoes, etc etc etc. you'd be surprised! I must say that i do fall into this catagory (family of 3 in an expedition), I am working on getting my wife a new car for work and I already have my beater. Then the expy will be used much less.
I learned supply and demand in school and until the demand drops significantly, the cost will be high.
