Transmission tunnel mods

Has anyone done any modifications to the transmission tunnel to get more leg room??? I have a contemporary Cobra with a 427 and it looks like 6" or so could be gained by cutting the tunnel out and reglassing it so it is closer to the tunnel.

Any help would be appreciated.
